1st 28 miler which didn't encounter cramping. It's been a 15 year battle. The trick with thai amerikan hybrid lions seems to be bombing them with water & trusting the tablets. They're going to dump most of the sodium overboard & make you think you're diluting out, but they're really keeping enough in. You just have to stay 5 miles ahead of the hydration, never let them dry out. Whatever it's going to feel like in 5 miles is what you're addressing now.
That took 5 16oz bottles. It was a real pain to refill all those water bottles. Refilled at 7, 14, 18, 22, & 24 miles. Had 3 clifbloks.

The time machine in the time machine was the easiest to believe. What wasn't easy to believe was a hottie like that having anything to do with him. There might have been some attraction to him being a tenured professor. Maybe it was a monogamous universe.
To modern eyes, it was 1 of the more clunky plot points for the absolute hotties in the later scenes to be talking to a stranger.
The conversational AI agent was something we couldn't dream of in 2002, yet is now taken for granted at least in text form.
The search function could be mistaken for exactly what we see today.
The man cave & time machine prop were definitely labors of love. The mechano electrical gadgets in that room reminded lions of their 1st fascination with electronicals. Their knowledge was just what was around in 1895, dynamos, motors, wires, & switches. Making electricity for free & making it do useful work were the great goals. There was a great struggle to find a useful application of the electric motor & pulleys in an erector set, but in the end, it could only form art or toys. Young lion saw a source of free energy in 19th century dynamos. Diagrams in books never showed the turbine or piston that fed the dynamo.
If it couldn't be free, young lion might have thought he could make electricity for less money. The solution there was always PG&E. After all that, old lion did end up metering it for less money.
The time machine could have used some minimal safety features & a payload space, but the fact that the driver could fall out & rapidly age while being stuck to it was a key plot point.
1 of the more important plot points was the fact that he couldn't change the past because the tall, dominant blond hottie had to die for him to build the time machine.
The book apparently was a socialist parable with the Morlocks as the workers & the Eloi as the aristocrats. The movie might have followed the book if it was made today, but in 2002 when republicans peaked, it was redone with the Morlocks as cannibals & the Eloi as food.
Time travel into the future is possible, on a scale of milliseconds. The energy required gets extreme beyond that.
The early 2000's were the last fanciful period of movie making. It's 1 of a growing number of victorian era NY movies which tickle the imagination. Others were the Fantastic Beasts series. Something about that period & the location conjures ideas of magic. Maybe it was the industrial revolution taking root there, a large influx of immigrants there, the beginning of the modern financial system, a lot of animals going there to win the lottery.
