After intermittent success with yt-dlp on xfinitywifi, it eventually croaked with nothing but HTTP Error 403: Forbidden.  The problem is the alternative downloaders don't do 4k. It's probably blacklisting IP addresses & xfinitywifi is sharing a neighbor's blacklisted IP address.

The leading theory now is just to finally invest in a tunneling program for the phone & use the phone's 30GB plan when all other means don't work.  ppp to the phone USB would be the ultimate solution.  Would 1st verify yt-dlp is still broken using the formal tethering plan so the lion kingdom can cancel it.

Anyways, upgraded the piano to the latest python in order to try yt-dlp on it & it seemed to be working when run directly on the router.  The MTU hacking required for VPN's to work might break yt-dlp.  The problem is that MTU hack has to apply to the whole machine instead of a container.  This level of hacking has really reached the limit of what can be done with modern containers & is getting back to a world when dedicated machines were required to do a lot of things.  Maybe the MTU could be done with nested containers or virtual machines, but the memory cost & complexity goes beyond the payoff.

So the workaround is now to run a lot of programs directly on the router while programs requiring a VPN have to run on a dedicated machine with hacked MTU.  Upgraded the piano to 64GB to store more media, but it probably needs the big old hard drives on NFS.

Next, the piano is prone to Text file busy errors when trying to run programs.  The problem is caused by NFS locking files in some way.  The workaround is to unmount /piano from everything else.



The payoff of all this was of course, anorexic of the day siliconsiren in 4k




Millennials at this point are all old & their gargantuan wedding rings have 10 years of grime in desperate need of a genius bar cleaning. 

Another old anorexic from the auto recommender is Stephanie Goetz who is married to an executive coach wealthy enough to afford multiple jets.  It seems if they're old, scrawny, & have super sized wedding rings, their husbands are really wealthy & they're just on gootube for shits & giggles. 

A lot of high profile gootubers are very wealthy & just on for shits & giggles.  They get promoted because they have toys no-one can afford.

Gen X got another hit with the end of 401k catch up contributions for anyone reporting over $145k in payroll earnings.  That was based on 2020 salaries & not adjusted for inflation.  As a consolation, they allow the catch up contribution to go to a roth 401k after reporting it as income.

$145k is subhuman, poverty H1B slave level in Calif*. For 25 years, lions waited for the day they could get another $7k deducted & after 1 year it was gone. Year 2 would have allowed an $8k deduction, enough to qualify for a roth IRA.

 An additional $8k reported as taxable income really sux, especially if interest rates stay above 0 & you're owing taxes on interest. Roth 401k investment choices really really suck compared to traditional roth IRAs.  Betterment charges insane fees.

 Presumably the roth IRA phase out level still applies, so someone using the catch up contribution to qualify for a roth IRA might be once again phased out of that, now reduced to roth 401k & no traditional roth IRA. Thanks Amerifuck voters.

1 more thing: 9 years until social security is cut.

Gen X is really hitting the retirement phase right when everything is being cut by the other 2, larger generations.  Baby boomers getting a break on RMDs, gen Z getting automatic enrollment, while gen X losing 401k catch up contributions right at age 50 & 20% of their social security benefit right at age 62 really looks like the 2 bigger voting pools poaching the smaller voting pool for themselves.

    It was time to take on the lion kingdom's 1st 1 star movie.  Finally tracked down the Sun bootloader font from many decades ago & put it in Cinelerra as gallant12x22.  Put Sun Gallant Demi into the goog to get useful results. https://github.com/dim13/gallant/tree/master/ttf   It's a fixed point font in an archaic format.  Some guy converted it into a TTF with a lot of antialiasing.  He has a PNG image showing no antialiasing.  It has to be set to size 22 & requires a threshold to get rid of the antialiasing.  Freetype might be shifting it 1/2 pixel vertically. It had a kind of curiosity value, but lions have had no need for any fixed point fonts besides the 24pt Sony of CAEDM fame. Another hit said it was 1 of the fonts available in kernel framebuffer mode.  Lions haven't used kernel framebuffer mode in decades.  It could possibly replace 24pt Sony if lions wrote a fixed point converter.
