The stonk market's short term equilibrium is somewhere between a 31 & a 33 handle.  Lions aren't searching for a bottom anymore as much as an equilibrium.  The bottom is going to be higher than a 29 handle.  The farther it goes below the equilibrium, the smaller the positions it requires to pay back the losses above the equilibrium.  The trick is 32 was where most retirement accounts automatically rebalanced, bought in because their value dropped 3%.  It might be closer to a 31 handle.

The  bear market is now in its 6th month.  Bide is going to do everything possible to make the number higher in 2024 than it was in 2020 even though there's going to be a massive decline in the intervening years.  That puts a bottom definitely higher than 2020.

Lions still don't see interest rates as the biggest threat but quantitative reduction.  Suspect the fundamentals still oppose long term, high inflation.

The lion kingdom gathers most animals want the same thing.  They all want to stop working as soon as possible & live on a self perpetuating fund, off grid.  Obviously it's impossible because productivity would fall & inflation would wipe out any fund.  Only a small number of animals are ever going to be able to do that for a long term.  Most animals can only do that for a short time before they die.

The only thing worse than being a Heester is being a Delventhal. Generation Z has the goofiest last names. It's because of the reduced marriage rate of generation X that words which previously got expunged from the lexicon are now sticking around. Hippies would formerly keep their own last names if they were good & take their husband's last names if they were bad.

Temperatures popped, but apparently are supposed to drop again for 1 day before the heat event.  Inside temperature will break 100 for the 1st time since 2020.

Trophy wife

Is it always going to be a world of male ultrarunners banging female couch potatoes, female ultrarunners banging bald fat male executives, opposites being forced to attract?  The social order was made up by our religious rulers to keep themselves in power & to make sure the lower class loses everything to divorce lawyers.

The lion kingdom finally encountered the very slow av_seek_frame performance in large .mkv files & general inaccuracy with it due to it seeking after the desired position.  The problem has only happened with audio seeking.  Seeking to the same positions with video tracks is still fast.  That doesn't mean it'll never happen with video, but it's tempting just to align all seeking to the video keyframes.

This was already tried long ago.  The problem is if the file has no video track, it has to fall back on audio.  If the video track ends before the audio track, that's another problem.  The video keyframe happens tens of megabytes before the audio offset but it's better than nothing.  The lockup is believed to happen when av_seek_frame isn't on a video keyframe.  It just starts reading from the start of the file.

The internet has a record of slow av_seek_frame calls since 2012.  Some of them report video taking much longer to seek than audio, but aren't clear about whether the video is frozen while searching for the offset or just waiting to be fed the next keyframe.

MKV is another piece of shit in a long line of pieces of shit, beginning with AU, AIFF, MPG, & AVI.  Too bad everything couldn't have just been based on derivatives of AVI or MPG.  That was what all open source programs used originally.  Lions miss the truly simple formats like AU & AIFF.  We're scanning the entire MKV files to generate indexes, so an indexless audio format from the days of old, with some kind of packet format to delineate frames & tracks, would have been just fine.
