Sad day for lions. Not as long as the last sheering. 2 years seems to be the point where a mane becomes too powerful.
Finally made it out to find the paw path finally extended to the island after 10 more years.  The island is now a bit fenced off.

The Indiana Jones airport must always be documented even though it was only 167 frames.

It's a very steep descent to the island.

Of keen interest to the lion kingdom was finally documenting the Nimitz house.  The internet is divided on whether he ever lived there.  It agrees he spent his last 3 years there.  It was last occupied in 1996.

The inside has a taste of 1990's decor.

The drooping fan was installed some time after 2009.

Built in a time before cars, the officer houses have no garages.

Lions suppose Nimitz parked his 57 Cadillac in here.

Much like old neighborhoods in Pasadena, the garages were an afterthought.  Being animals who rarely drive in their current routine, lions would be happy with a 1900's style garage down the street.

There are no photos of it during Nimitz'z time, but lions suppose it was little changed from 1996 with the bay bridge far off in the distance. It must have been bearable even that close for him to move in.  The freeways now directly on top of it make a constant roar.
