Poseidon adventure
The lion kingdom finally watched its month old download of Poseidon Adventure 1972. IMDB called the 2006 remake a turd & approved of the 1972 version, but the 1972 version was also a turd in lion minds. The incompetent, hopeless, sandbagging refugee movies are just unbearable. Over time, the internet has come to like them a lot more than 40 years ago, lions would say. Maybe the population has just become more like the hopeless refugees over time.
To old lion, the purpose of the movie was Gene Hackman's atonement, but it was never clear what he atoned for. The merry band of survivors was so incompetent, it was kind of like he had to die in order for the rest of them to finally get it together. They spent a lot of footage showing how the survivors just couldn't get it together in the final moments.
Was there any other way for them to get out without the atonement? They might have been able to fashion a tool to crank the door open or deflect the steam. Maybe the writer could have left out the final challenge.
Anyways, the payoff after Gene Hackman died was well done. They implied the copter just left & never came back in case anyone else made it. They could have shown the crew staying behind or another copter arriving.

Anyways, old movies & old photos got lions feeling nostalgic for the late 1960's to early 1970's, before severe stagflation. What was it like to be financially independent during that time, drive around in your 68 mustang, eat at 60's diners, & lounge around all day.
The more lions pondered it, the more it became clear financial independence just didn't exist in those days.

The epitomy of late 60's financial independence for most of us is the Time Life imagery of Jack Nicholson in his house. He could have probably retired instead of buy that house, but that was a very accomplished movie star. Van Cliburn couldn't retire until 1978.
The reality of the late 60's might be everyone working until they had health problems or little time left, then all having the same defined benefit. If they lived out their golden years on cruise ships, it was very short. A lot of animals complain about economic inequality, but there are just a damn lot more animals becoming financially independent by 40 than there used to be & the work they're doing is a lot easier than it was.
A house in 1950 was only 2x annual income compared to today's 20x, but it was a mixed bag. Necessities might have been a bigger part of their income & return on investment might not have been as easy. Dreams of financial independence in the late 60's might be about a fictional world.
Suspect the end for social security is going to be a lump sum payout for those who request it at age 62. It'll be far less than the amount previously promised, but enough animals will need the cash for it to be successful. The tax will continue as before.
