Finally finished Ammonite, after it turned into a lesbian love story.  Lesbian love stories are easier on the eyes than gay love stories.  The lion kingdom never finished Behind.the.Candelabra.  There was a bit of terror when Kate Winslet tried to take her lover back to Titanic.  

There wasn't much to it besides lesbian makeout sessions.  The real Mary Anning died at age 47 from breast cancer.  All of her siblings died by age 2.  High child mortality was common in England.  

She made very little money from fossil hunting, despite making major discoveries.  Despite the poverty, she made enough by age 27 to buy a house, a rare thing for anyone in US to achieve in a lifetime.  By age 35 though, her situation had declined & she was on welfare.

The real Charlotte Murchison in the movie came along when the real Anning was 25 & Murchison was 37.  They really did go fossil hunting together as depicted & Anning did visit Murchison in London once, at age 29.  She never moved in as depicted.

The lesbian love story is as fictitious as Kate Winslet's affair with Jack Dawson on Titanic. The real Anning never had any relationships with men, but poor women in remote England were probably in the same situation as silicon valley programmers, having to choose between being alone & caring for a disabled person, regardless of orientation.
