Bird Note to future lion: after an extended period with intermittent or no phone network, it turned out the SIM tray was swapped with another phone.  Despite looking identical, the trays are apparently not interchangeable.  Hot weather may have aggravated the problem.  The seemingly dead tray worked in another phone & the other phone's tray revived the seemingly dead phone.  They also came out more easily when installed in the right phones.  There was no difference besides the rubber gasket next to the door.  Narrowly avoided an expensive new phone or new SIM card, which still wouldn't have worked.

20.6 mile effort with the mane.  Fed it until getting sick.   https://www.mersea.restaurant/ There is food on the island.  Could be an epic run to feed the mane there, but expensive. Panorama mode on the phone turned out worthless.  There might be some tongue angle precision required to get it to work, but with no easy way to see glitches, it might as well be only 320 pixels high.   The wide camera was pretty awful even in daylight. Changing camera angle in leash mode might be useful.  A head mounted viewfinder would be useful but unbearable after 20 miles. The leash is still the only thing which gets lions in the shot & shows where they're going. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- https://www.youtube.com/@SAFABrian Some nifty follow cam vijeos of really fast bike riding. Even a human bike rider gets less flattering ass shots than the robot.

You're a fossil if you remember when FL was a cheap retirement destination.     Calif* is looking mighty cheap now.  Ego Monger is untouchable of course. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Phone cam already got scratched.  There was an attempt to hot snot some protection on but it fell off. Sadly, the phone quickly continued downhill, with its USB port dying on account of a small splash when driving through a puddle.  A lot of cleaning got it to connect again, but only with the cable in 1 orientation.  It's just as fiddly as micro USB was.

New phone cam is OK in daylight but useless in the dark.  Haven't had any luck protecting the lens cover.  The TPU truck holster is just grinding them up.  This one already has wear on the plastic surround.  It needs a microfiber cloth wherever it goes. This one has a 12 megapixel normal camera, 8 megapixel wide camera, 16 megapixel selfie camera for a total of 36 megapixels. They're all good enough for a lion to be comfortable ditching the DSLR.     There is a night vision mode which has extreme halftoning artifacts in dark areas.       Normal mode does better in the dark, with a tripod, but you must disable automatic night vision to get rid of the halftone artifacts.   Wide mode is useless in the dark. Wide mode is somewhat useful with night mode, if you don't mind halftoning.   Ultrares just scales it up to 50 megapixels.  There is a leveler which just draws an artificial horizon but doesn't level anything. There...
