Why resuming a programming project is so hard: this has perplexed lions for decades.  It's easy enough to start a project from scratch.  The idea seems easily attainable.  It quickly grows in complexity but you're able to keep going.  You force yourself to put it away, early in the morning after.   The next day, it becomes really hard to pick up where you left off.  The cliff seemed shortest when lions were younger & might have gotten harder with increasing age.  Young lion seemed to pick up where he left off as naturally as eating. For the most part, just getting in the 1st keystrokes or searching around for where you left off are the hardest part, then it all comes back & you can always get back the same intensity.  The key factor might be the loss of the short term memory of where you were. There might be loss of short term memory with increasing age or increasing lack of faith in success with increased experience.  With...

After a 12 mile day that ended in pain, managed to do an intense 4 mile walk the next day, then a fast 2.8 in 20:32 another day later.  The fast 2.8 gave way to a painful 3 mile return.  Alternating every other day seems to give an impressive short term recovery even from painful beginnings.  Lions still can't hit 40 miles/week anymore. Lions consider the sub 7:20 speed to be not very stressful.  Before arthritis, it only took 1 day to recover.  The sub 6:30 speed is stressful.   It's been away & now it's back.  Lions can handle 2 cups per day before lactose apocalypse.  The hope is it can shock the cartilage into growing, in case there's a diet deficiency.  The true limitation is genetics.  It tastes a lot richer after 10 years away.  Lions can once again eat it straight without sugar. The price is largely the same as 10 years ago: $20. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------...
