The big news for lions is that 1st prize now pays $100,000 before taxes.  Just 15 years ago, 1st prize was just $20,000.  The audiences may be smaller or non existent, but the money from each concert is a lot more.



It was surprising that no chinese got awards.  The south korean surprisingly got 1st place. The large russian hottie got 2nd place.  The lion kingdom was unimpressed by her accuracy.  The whole thing made lions wonder if there was a chance of getting partway in the amateur competition with some attainable pieces.

3rd prize went to the Ukranian, which made lions wonder how the Russian & Ukrainian were allowed to compete.  The men weren't allowed to leave Ukraine & an embargo prevented any Russians from competing in anything.  The game seems to be living in other countries while representing a native citizenship.


It was surprising that the black guy didn't get jack.  It wasn't a civil rights theater.  There was a definite correlation between flare & awards.  The more bland the performance, the lower the award, regardless of accuracy.


The amateur competition is still a bit beyond a lion with a day job.  They have to memorize 45 minutes of solo material & 1 movement of a very overplayed concerto.  The Rach & Liszt concertos aren't listed.  The Grieg might be the least overplayed concerto in their list.

The journey began with an online video submission. They had 205 applicants for 46 positions in 2020, then delayed it for 2 years.  Presumably, that involved an unedited 15 minute recital.  Unlike the professional competition, the amateurs do it for the love of music.  They just don't do it very well.







It came to pass that the lion kingdom finished the 1st 3 Resident Evils.  Javovavovavova never had any appeal for lions.  She was always a very pale game character.  Each movie was more like a game.  There's not much going on besides shooting.  The most appealing heroine was Ali Larter after saving men in House on Haunted Hill.



The hero shot was Las Vegas.  





The lion kingdom finally prepared its bug out bag, which contains a relatively recent password backup, some keys supposedly for a safety deposit box, all the key documents. The apartment keys & wallet are usually in the truck. The mane threat to renters is a neighbor doing something stupid. In the event of fire, the lion kingdom would load the bugout bag in the truck & leave. Time permitting, there would be a 2nd trip to try to recover all the hard drives. Maybe it should be fireproof or outside the building.

 Finally watched Creepshow, 40 years after rereading the comic book many times by flashlight. The highlight visually might have been the now vintage Apple II which was cutting edge in those days. Nothing utterly terrifying.  Better writing than anything current.  Only slightly deviates from the comic book. The highlight emotionally might have been when after feeding his wife to the warewolf, the now liberated man sits down to doing anything he wants.  The big deviation was the warewolf escaping in the end, while the comic book kept him trapped underwater. The zombies might have been easier on the eyes than the single women. The original comic book is now on archive.org with a 1 hour free trial.  With a 4k monitor, all you need to do is screencap it while turning the pages.  The raw images are very high res but a 4k screencap is still higher than any animal would actually read it in.
