What a game changer for commuting. For the longest time, AR glasses maxed out at 640x480, but 1920x1080 is a breakthrough.  Even today, 1920x1080 is real high for a laptop.  The other mane enabler is the ability to see through them.

Just 1 of those, a raspberry pi, & a keyboard worn around the waist & you finally have a useful computer while standing up. If the lion kingdom was still commuting by train, it would drop the $400 for those & make the system work.

Helas, there's currently no need for even a laptop so the AR glasses are definitely out. The only other killer application might be watching a movie while running, but they require a cable & a lot of gear for generating the image.  They might make a better music display than a monitor, but if you're making a video, the glasses are going to hide your face.  They could be good FPV flying glasses, if lions were still into that.

It's the kind of thing a 10 year old lion would lust for because of the potential uses more than the potential uses lions are actually performing.  It's the epitome of a toy.

The ultimate wearable gadget is the thing you can wear all day & live in a virtual world in.  It requires full motion capture of every part of your body to replicate it in the virtual world.

There are actually 3 AR glasses in some state of production: TCL NXTWear S, NReal Air, Rokid Air  The mane breakthrough in the last 4 years was Sony achieving a high resolution, microscopic display.

Lions don't think AR glasses are going to be around forever because the wearable computing concept is just too different.  Animals are too conditioned to laptops having a screen & being used sitting down.
