Another big drawdown in fed balance sheet accompanied by a big stonk market rally.  It's not the previous pattern.  It might be institutional buying, based on the point in the cycle.  Lions believe we're in the beginning of the next big expansion & the government statistically hid the last contraction either with inflation or the 2 headed economy.  300% growth is possible.

Lions have pondered how much wealth is invested in stonks & how much is invested in housing, thus how much the neighbors make from a stonk market boom.  The headlines say most of the wealth of individuals is in their down payment & most of their income goes to monthly payments.  Most of their wealth beyond that is in rental properties.  They can't significantly benefit from stonks unless they borrow money.

In the last 20 years, that might have changed as houses became rarer & more individuals became renters.  Changes in net worth have been more correlated with housing prices though.  The doubling in net worth from 2019-2022 appeared to be entirely the Calif* exodus pushing up housing prices.

The rich get richer & the poor get to fight population decline.

Some hypothetical runs.  Futureventures is 12 miles.  Computer history museum is 10.  The ages old Stanford campus/mall run is 8.  They're not very far by modern standards but would be a full day.

Nothing is still in the mall except maybe expensive food.  The apple store is just a phone store.

A lion could always dream of living in the 101 corridor, the most expensive real estate in the world, the center of it all, the center of progress at least 40 years ago.  It's unclear if as much value was created in the last 30 years of dot com boom, social network boom, mobile app boom, & AI boom as was created during the PC boom, military boom, & networking boom of the 80's.

The money of the last 20 years didn't buy nearly as much as the money of 50 years ago.  How much the last 20 years impacted the lion kingdom is questionable, since most of what lions use is their own creation.  There's more access to data but there's not a whole lot more data.  There just aren't as many good movies as there were, not as many good songs, & lions just don't get excited about the 50th video about Elon's last tweet.

We listened to the radio all day & music was always on, 40 years ago.  Real life was the data coming from the radio.  We have a lot more access to data but nothing is worth listening to now.

Noted the blur radius based on alpha feature no longer works or never did.  There are artifacts.  It doesn't preserve any alpha if horizontal is enabled.  This seems related to the order it copies the temporaries.

This feature was created during the tilt-shift craze for making fake tilt-shift effects.  Lions only remember doing it in the gimp by feathering a blurred layer rather than varying the blur radius.  The more realistic way of doing it would be to vary the blur based on alpha.

Davinci Resolve has the variblur effect for doing the same thing.

There were only 2 videos with fake tilt shift made on Apr 12-13, 2010.  Luckily the EDL from 1 survived, otherwise there would have been no way to discover how they were made.  They bounced the video to a track with a mask set to "subtract alpha".  The mask feathered the alpha while keeping RGB intact, like an eraser.  This was the 1 case which required track bouncing.

The alpha keyed radius had no artifacts with the mask, probably because Cinelerra doesn't dither.  The Gimp dithers its gradients so 1 solution is just to not dither the alpha channel.  It was never used in a case where the alpha had to be preserved.  It was only envisioned for fake tilt shift.  There is technically no reason to preserve the alpha.

To more seriously use the alpha keyed radius, it would need a plugin which can merge channels from multiple layers into arbitrary channels in the output layer.  Then the alpha mask could be made in the Gimp.

Pondering the blur artifacts, the only way it would really work is by creating a new image for every blur radius & copying the pixels from the single radius image to the output image where the alpha matches the radius.  It can't dynamically change the blur radius while sweeping across because it's a recursive algorithm.  The dynamic method only works in certain cases.

It's 256 images for an 8 bit image & an infinite number of images for a float image, but limits of perception might make 256 practical.  It could search for the min & max alpha & divide the range into 256.  It could also divide the blur radius into single pixel increments.  A 10 pixel radius would create 10 possible images to divide among the alpha range.
