Under Seige ended up on the hard drive because of Szimanski.  Typical of its time, a fun beginning with a clunky ending.  Colonel Rhombus was the highlight, bringing scorched earth tactics to the battleship.  Nothing beats late 80's monochrome graphics.

2010 got its 1st screening in HD.  The big thing for lions was how the high resolution, flat panels of 2001 were replaced by inferior, low resolution tubes in 2010.  It was only passable because a lot of things got inferior but cheaper between 1968 & 1984.  Movie theaters got replaced by VHS.

There were a lot of computer graphics.  While low in resolution & colorful like the 8 bitters, they were definitely on SGI.  The gradients were only possible on SGI & they wouldn't spend the money for the heroic programming required by an 8 bitter.

Stuff like drawing giant text was exciting only because it was hard.

The scariest depiction of a haunted ship was the haunting of Discovery by the dead astronaut. Definitely more effective than Event Horizon. Surprising there was never a movie just about a ghost of a dead astronaut aboard a haunted space ship.

Helen Mirren's peak dominance was the mane engine ignition.

A goof not visible in the low definition versions was the ships going from being above each other to superimposed in a line.

Also noted the docking grabber rotated for no reason when they undocked.

The ships had 3 different ways of attaching

so it was never explained why throwing away the triangle bridge had any meaning.

The whole thing made lions ponder finally downloading the space odyssey books.

Another tragedy as the former gootube CEO's son dies of a drug overdose.  Very common for royalty at that age to feel invincible.  Royalty lives on the edge because they can afford to take chances no-one else can.  Surprising he went to a crummy public school instead of MIT.
