Biggest effort in 4 months. Limited speed based on pain level & used the metronome all the way. Equally painful to know running won't be possible for another 48 hours. The posterior tibial tendon called it quits at mile 10.

The left posterior tibial tendon seems to be gradually degrading to the same point as the right one.  Narrowing in on the posterior tibial tendon being the failure point instead of the flexor digitorum longus.  Definitely some signs the sandals are prime suspects in the injuries.

Anyways, that run revealed the best feeling keyboard to be the logitech MK850 with an $80 tag.   That one comes with a mouse which is better than the current one but not great.  It was actually cheaper locally than mail order.  There's a $57 variant with a crummier mouse.  There are no keyboards with full size keys.

The best mouse is definitely the $85 Logitech - MX Master.  The mane factors in the mouse seem to be the weight & discrete buttons instead of buttons molded into the case so lions would not burn $85 on it.  If the MK850 mouse was just heavier, it might win.  They're probably all going to suffer from short longevity because the glide pads are just wearing out.  Not sure if it's just the glide pads on the $10 mice or all of them now being expendable.

Being the lion who always pays twice, it might end up being an MK850 double dip.  They're charging for returns, which makes sight unseen mail ordering difficult.

There's definitely a big difference between the low & high end dome keyboards & the low end felt pretty bad compared to 24 years ago.  The mechanical keyboards have finally fallen out of favor.  The flat keyboards all feel horrible now.  Lions somehow went all the way from 1984-2010 without having a beef with any keyboards.  Then they started falling over, possibly because of manufacturing savings or incredibly fast inflation of the high end.

Inflation being what it is, it might be justified to move on the custom e-machines keyboard.  Generally, everything good is 4x more expensive than it was 20 years ago.

Also verified all hard drives over 8TB are still in the $400 range while the 8TB is the same price as 6 years ago.

The lion kingdom's next $20 keyboard arrived.  It definitely initially felt better than the last $20 keyboard.  More assertive than the mechanical keyboard but also about as hard to get used to as every other keyboard.  They have all taken a certain amount of time to get used to since 2010.  Even the mighty $40 sunsonny in 2018 took some getting used to & initially felt about as bad as the $20 basic.

Keyboard longevity being what it is, it'll probably get used up before lions consider an $80 model.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Helas, after several days of being convinced it would work out, the decision was made to clean the sunsonny & scrap the amazon basic.  Lions were so convinced the basic would work & it was cheap enough, they got rid of the packaging.  It's electronicals could potentially be recycled in a custom keyboard.

The Sunsonny had long been getting less reliable, manely the space bar & the cursor keys not registering.  It had long been manetenance intensive, requiring stretching of the springs to get the keys to restore.

After several hours of cleaning mane hair & claws, it was more bearable.  The trick was to scrape & vacuum the bonded debris.  Then wipe with alcohol & a que tip.  The cleaning seemed to improve the reliability, but it might have just been the basic one being so bad.

In order for the LEDs to work again, all the switches would have to be taken out & cleaned.  The PC board might also have to be cleaned.  If lions ever buy a formerly $100 now $150 model M, they're going to need to fully disassemble & clean it routinely.  It doesn't seem worth it.

It's no longer obvious if the Sunsonny is better or worse than what we had 30 years ago.  The last memory was the last full depth keyboard getting real stiff over time.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Helas, a month later the Sunsonny was once again bordering on useless.  The problem was lots of dropped keypresses.  Maybe cleaning the switches would fix it.

It seems $100 is going to be the floor for anything useful, nowadays.

For some reason, Kamal reminds lions of this moment of generation X lore.
