The original was more like a 1950's robot. The new model was used again in 2202 as the wave motion engine.
It was kind of a grand finale soap opera of souls trading places, but what was interesting was watching the simultaneous reaction of the crew on the upper decks seeing people coming back to life & dying while the crew on the lower decks saw the cosmo reverse shutting down & restarting.
They finally got the doctor's eyes lined up with his glasses.
Despite having the universe's most boring job, Deslok's secret service was real hotties, not unlike any modern org chart. Any sensible dictator would give up dictatoring & just make love all day, but then he'd be just another peon they wouldn't want anything to do with.
2199 was definitely a better ending than 2202. Lions have never been able to stand any modern western series, the Expanse, For all Mankind, but the Japanese animated series are all perfection.
