As the lion kingdom understands it, millennials are buying up these giant country homes which were built 300 years ago during a time when everyone worked from home.  These homes were all abandoned in the 20th century as the industrial revolution moved everyone into the cities.  Now, they're slowly moving back out of the cities & the lifestyle of 300 years ago is slowly returning.

Buying & renovating abandoned chateaus is such a big deal nowadays, there's a TV show about it.

They don't live in the entire house anymore.  They reserve part of it as an airbnb.  The sharing economy didn't even exist until 10 years ago.  They say they financed it, but never mention how much.  The lion kingdom presumes most houses these days are bought by selling stonk rather than borrowing money.  All new money since 2008 was created by printing it rather than expanding credit.  It was originally issued to stonk brokers, where it gradually filtered down to homeowners through higher stonk prices.

The husband is a pretty high caliber producer whose content is on the BBC.  The wife formerly did fashion something.  They claim to have retired & focused purely on the chateau, although their income is from the documentary about the chateau, the airbnb, & the biggest money maker of the 21st century, gootube adsense.

Some of the instagram shots are good fodder for fans of A Midnight Clear.  A Midnight Clear was shot in Park City Utah, but it depicted places that definitely existed in France.

There are some good shots of an old car staged in front of the ancient stable, as it might have appeared in the 1920's.  The horse stable was the 18th century garage.  The weather shown is a lot more bearable than the winter hell shown in Saving Private Ryan.

While owning a midnight clear chateau or a beast castle was a lion dream, 20 years ago, living in a breathtaking visual would have entailed a lot of manetenance & a lot of unused space.  A chateau in France has other issues of ownership & taxes for non citizens.  It might be something to spend a short time in a chateau & replicate the lifestyle of the great composers.
