So Microsoft bought out Blizzard for $70 billion.  The anorexic hottie on the lion commute 7 years ago is now a multi millionaire & a retiree before age 30.  It was a common theme when commuting.  Someone you saw everyday would be part of a major buyout offer & disappear.  The hottie next door's boyfriend's startup got bought out by Airbnb & she retired.  Secretaries came to town dreaming of marrying billionaires, eventually married venture capitalists & disappeared.  The lion kingdom never could get into an A corporation with serious buyout prospects.  The lion kingdom's largest stonk award was 50,000 shares at $0.02 each.

So 1 week after the jawboning & the automatic buy program that was written before the jawboning, the stonk market finally sold off.  It can't be.  Oil continued its inexplicable rise as the lion kingdom sold its last positions.  They might be expecting an oil boom during the summer driving season.  Lions were more bullish about oil back when we were more likely to commute again.  Even if low skilled lions have to commute again, most of the world can't afford to go back.

Lions don't make short term bets on the summer driving season.  Hitting the peak depends more on luck than logic.  Lions certainly don't expect any of their stonks to explode like gamestop.  Anyways, the next step of the plan was to rotate into index funds & small caps as the punchbowl goes away.

So why do people sell oil like mad when it's plainly obvious that it's not going away?  They need short term cash to pay for something else or they're trying to claim capital losses before buying it back.  Selling rarely happens because something is going to go away, unless it's a bankrupt company.  It's a war between people who have money & people who need money.

Lions still don't believe any capital loss is worth fighting for.  Selling low to declare a capital loss has a risk of losing ground when it's time to get back in.  There's a very small carryover allowed per year.  A big capital loss can cover an entire lifetime of carryovers, hence selling tends to accelerate after the price breaches a certain level.
