Another erotic dream.  This time it was someone short.

The decision was made to have the video driver silently print an error to the console when it's in use by either playback or rendering.  Rendering dies with an error.  Playback silently stops.  There could be more verbose error reporting for rendering.  Conflict between playback & rendering for the same video driver has been a rare case.  The important thing is the rendered output isn't corrupted by clicking in the timeline.

The next problem is failure of the opengl code to switch between virtual console & direct mode when fade changes.

Interestingly, nvidia_uvm is sometimes reported as in use by Gimp.  The lion kingdom's Gimp definitely doesn't do any hardware rendering.  You have to quit the gimp & reload nvidia_uvm.

There are versions of Gimp which access the GPU through opencl.  It seems off screen GPU programming evolved from OpenGL to CUDA to OpenCL over the last 15 years while on screen graphics programming evolved from OpenGL to Vulcan.  On screen programs like the Gimp have branched to using off screen programming languages because they want to save data.  The lion kingdom would have rewritten Cinelerra 3 times if it always used the current big programming language.

The important thing is there aren't many animals who still care about a desktop program that runs on Linux.  They now do everything on phones.

Watching Rossguy dissolving his business in NY & starting a new business in TX is a good example of why we work for startups under venture capital firms instead of directly for venture capital firms.  The startups can be dissolved with all debt or losses being erased.

The employees can be replaced in a more friendly way than a mass layoff.  In Ross Guy's case offer them all some chance to relocate.  Most of them back out voluntarily.

Interestingly the same weather pattern as 2021 set up, where the central valley gets over 110F while the lion kingdom is below 90.  2020 was the last time the great basin high was farther west, baking the lion kingdom in 117F outside & 104F inside, in a continuous heat wave from Aug to Sept.  There's still time for that to happen again.  The lion who lived through that seems like a real trooper but lions just get used to whatever comes their way.  The standing desk, better air flow, hydrometer, better sensors, & swamp cooler might improve the next round.

The lion kingdom has pondered going back to a twin bed after 17 years with the queen bed.  The queen bed spent its 1st 3 years with only a twin sized futon.  It was still big enough for a skinny woman to fit on but definitely not any attainable ones now.  It would conceptually free up a lot of space but in reality not so much.

In reality, the space under the bed is already used.  Because it's elevated, it acts like a 2nd floor.  The bigger it is the more storage space it creates.  There's still enough unused space under it for 2 containers of infrequently used stuff.

A twin bed could possibly free up a small space under the window & behind the piano.  There would be more room to move around the bed.  It might even reduce storage space.  The airflow would have to be modified in an unknown way.  Its mane impact would be parting with the illusion of a relationship conveyed by the queen bed.

A twin bed right under the window would free up a significant amount of space for moving around but not storage.  The air vent would have to go on a shelf above the bed, as it was in college.  It would have to vector over a large angle.  Stuff against a wall would now go behind the piano.

A more effective plan might be installing a higher queen bed with a removable privacy panel facing the window.  It would be easier to access the space underneath, store luggage vertically, or even install shelves.  The air vent would have to be raised.  The 2 loft beds in school didn't have stairs & lions just had to get used to jumping.  They freed up a lot of space.

Loft queen beds are now over $3000.  That would have been a better investment, 17 years ago.  Sadly, the existing queen bed has lasted longer than the remaneing years in the lion kingdom's career so a new one just wouldn't pay for itself.  It would be kind of sad to move into a larger space & still manufacture a need for the loft bed of the working years.
