It was another xmas eve run down the valley.  This time, it was the nifty 50 at F2.0 1/50 & a bunch of high ISO's.  That limited the number of shots when squeezed between a tiny sidewalk & a line of cars, but made everything more packed.  Wide angles made everything look empty.  Need to document the last of the lawns before they're all gone.

Those grocery stores close early on xmas eve.  Lucky closed at 7pm.  The ideal start time for that run might be 4pm.

Lions have come to believe XMas eve is more important than the day itself.  That was after all the symbolic time when the star was born.  


Anyways, the passing of another year manely brings regret but every year technically ends better off than the previous year.  There were losses:


The lion kingdom once again lost most of its savings to inflation & still has about the buying power it did 17 years ago.  By now, it's obvious that social security will be the mane retirement fund, no matter what.

Some more vintage UNIX shots from 2004.  Remember what was unthinkable to have at home is now normal, yet lions still haven't gotten around to fixing the niggles in FVWM.  Part of the magic might be the original CDE wallpaper.  It wasn't exactly a starship though.



Some less flattering views of Mars heroine were revealed, 20 years later.  She was easier on the eyes in 320x240.

Its theatric run over in 1 month, Project Hail Mary arrived on the hard drive in short order.   After running the Michael Jackson movie for just a week, the IMAX theater now seems to be derelict.  They could be reserving it for private screenings or it could be too expensive to operate. It's a growing number of movies which won't be available in blu ray.  Lions continued to be perplexed by the inferior quality of webrips.      Skimming through it, the resemblance to 80's depictions of the future was striking.         It was a time when the future was painted white & noodled.  Sometimes you have to go back to go forward.   Moving on, they made every effort to pack as much of the book in a 2:30 screening time as possible.  The shots are all very quick.  It was like watching normal movies at 2x.  The book being intended from the start to be a movie definitely helped.   Computer animated exterior s...
