Lions have been to a great many fleet week air shows.  Most recently, it was a few hours of hookie from the day job with just the T4I & no tripod to document the F-35C. It appears that trip was using movie crop mode.

 

 


Previously, there was a walk all the way up Columbus Ave in 2016 with the full tripod & T4I.  The tripod definitely was more stable.  This one might have also used movie crop mode.



A quick test showed the EOS RP's maximum stabilization to crop just a hair less than the T4I's full frame mode.  It has a 4k stabilization which crops down to roughly magic lantern level, but the jello is worthless.





There is finally a slowly growing collection of F35-B footage on the tube, after many years of nothing but original test flight footage.  Helas, the camcorders they use have nowhere close to the color fidelity of a DSLR.  They're about as zoomed in as a lion can get, manely limited by the need to track the subject.  It's not as loud as hoped when hovering over water.  The loudest part is the low speed pass & turning away from the audience.  It has to hover over a runway right in front of the audience to be loud.

The good news is the hover demo should be slow enough to get in movie crop mode.  It might be worth just trying movie crop mode on the T4I.  Lions forget that mode doesn't have a persistent setting.

In the end, the lion kingdom used full frame mode for the forward flight & movie crop for the hover.  There's no way younger lion could have captured forward flight in movie crop.  It might have been double scaled in editing.

 

 The RP would have done better with forward flight but not have gotten as close for the hover.  The 10 year old T4I continues to be a star.  Overexposed it by 1-2 stops at ISO 400, F8, 1/1000.  This captured detail in the shaded parts.



Note thermal distortion under the lift fan & wings.  It obviously diverts some engine exhaust to the front, contrary to the official story.  Doubt the lift fan creates any compression.  According to the internet, the door behind the lift fan is extra air for the engine.




Quite a bit of atmospheric distortion makes lions wonder if full frame on the RP would have done better.


 

 

It was as loud as hoped.  The boaters closer to it must have had a hard time.

The media seemed to converge on another round of bond declines, after a few weeks of waffling between calling government shutdown & fed jawboning as the reason for stonk declines.  Stonks haven't really gone anywhere.

Another problem not cited by the media might be the lack of a house speaker & government instability.

Lions still suspect interest rate hikes are over & there's a good chance the story ends with quantitative tightening finally breaking something, allowing the government to report the deflation it needs, & kicking off another debasing of the currency.

The last month was different in that the fed didn't print money in response to the decline like it normally does.

Its theatric run over in 1 month, Project Hail Mary arrived on the hard drive in short order.   After running the Michael Jackson movie for just a week, the IMAX theater now seems to be derelict.  They could be reserving it for private screenings or it could be too expensive to operate. It's a growing number of movies which won't be available in blu ray.  Lions continued to be perplexed by the inferior quality of webrips.      Skimming through it, the resemblance to 80's depictions of the future was striking.         It was a time when the future was painted white & noodled.  Sometimes you have to go back to go forward.   Moving on, they made every effort to pack as much of the book in a 2:30 screening time as possible.  The shots are all very quick.  It was like watching normal movies at 2x.  The book being intended from the start to be a movie definitely helped.   Computer animated exterior s...
