Finally watched the pirate vision copy of this thing.  Lower resolution than the TV version but wider view. It seems DARYL was the beginning of the end of most of the acting careers in it.  Barret Oliver after peaking in Neverending story, went down the tubes after this.

The world class, hottie, trophy wife sister was done acting after this.  There was 1 shot of her in 2006 at age 40, dear god. She became a 2nd grade teacher & then a psychologist so must have been hard up for cash.

There was no telling young lion the anxious scientist wasn't John Lithgow but he wasn't.  It was a very convincing imitation though.  His career took off.

Young lion didn't know anything about the plot, so the 1st shock was how cold the wealthy parents appeared after reuniting with the lost kid.  Couldn't figure out why they treated the kid like a machine but it seemed plausible for wealthy families to do that.

To old lion, it's still a bit canny that they didn't try to imitate a normal family.  Old lion just pondered how much the government would really spend on a car & airplane to create the illusion.

The big shock for young lion was when the kids synthetic brain was finally revealed in glorious SGI 3D.  Strange that these silky smooth SGI renders dominated by 1985, yet View to a kill still had an authentic Apple II graphic.

The lakeside house is in Orlando.  It was probably $100k in the movie, sold in 2016 for 1/2 mil, & is probably $1 mil now.

The fictitious home was in South Carolina.  The kid's normal home was near Washington DC.  It was a fictitious sectional chart.

Sometimes your thoughts really do betray you.

Old lion: there were cheaper & easier ways for him to escape

Young lion: It was the grand finale for showing  off his abilities & allowed him to fake his death

Then they finally showed the SR-71's flight path.  He ditched it offshore.  The payoff was using the self destruct to fake his death. Definitely a horrifying act to destroy that plane instead of landing gear up in a field & having dinner.  It really showed how SR-71's & concorde's seemed to grow on trees in those days & how we thought airplanes were only going to get faster.

But he somehow managed to parachute into a lake from offshore.  Always noted it was the little turtle kid & not the bigger heroine who saved him.  It was the beginning of a long confirmed bachelor life.  The big question for old lion is what happens when something breaks & either they reveal Daryl's existence to the government or let him die.  Maybe Louis Rossguy could repair him secretly.

There was a real CRT screenshot from the time.  It looked a lot more advanced 40 years ago.  It was the atari 800 version, as shown.  That was the only screen we had in those days.

That was so much money in 1985.  Not enough for a house or retirement anymore.  The movie never did resolve the father's sudden wealth.

Would anyone watch a remake with a heroine as the robot?  Fuggedaboudit, but it would be the best movie ever made.

 Mane wins

The lion kingdom made it 3/5 of the way to its 5% plan when the media dropped another headline about mortgage rates hitting 7% again.  Nowhere close to last year or even much of a headline, but there's now going to be a selloff anyway, probably delayed 1 day by programmed trades.

1 idea has been just going stonk heavy in the short term during deep corrections & selling it off during the pops because the news cycles so orchestrated by the media & predictable. The key is knowing why the market is moving more than where it's moving, satisfying yourself that the future position is going to be higher than it is now.

There could be a forever cash position for corrections that would have to be sold off during pops. Media induced panics are a special breed where going stonk heavy can be justified, as long as the positions are sold off later to manetain buying power for the next panic.  The taxes would suck but it would be better than interest.
