Finally discovered you can bring up the transcript for any video, disable time stamps, select all the text & copy it to a text editor. Then you can search it or skim it without scrubbing through the video.
Normally the transcript window only shows a few lines at a time. It allows drag selecting the entire video though.

It came to pass that for all dividends where at least 50% came from interest on treasuries, the fraction of the dividends comprised of interest on treasuries was exempt from state tax. This didn't matter for a generation because interest was 0, but all that changed in 2023.
Taxpayers are expected to research the percentage of all their dividends which is from treasuries. It was negligible in times of negative interest. The percentage is listed in the back of the brokerage statement, in a section called INCOME SOURCE BREAKDOWN -> US Federal Source Income
All the dividends with less than 50% are neglected.
So in 2023, lions overpaid $1679. It's nowhere close to rent anymore, but it is an amount lions struggle to spend.

Another trap for young players is any size capital loss can be subtracted from any size capital gains in any year. In addition to this amount, up to $3000 of capital loss can be subtracted from earned income in any year. The $3000 limit only applies if the capital loss is subtracted from earned income. There is no limit if capital losses are subtracted from capital gains.
If you have earned income in addition to capital gains & the earned income is being taxed more than 15%, there's no reason to subtract capital losses from capital gains. Instead, subtract $3000 in capital losses from the earned income every year. Keep subtracting $3k from earned income in subsequent years.
The capital loss carryover needs to be subtracted from earned income on the state taxes, too.

Interesting comparison between cameras using expendable film & energy using expendable fuel, how the drastic cost reduction from using rewritable storage for cameras could repeat by using batteries for energy. It's not that simple, since information is not energy & all energy comes from mass, but maybe there could be a drastic cost reduction from reusable energy storage.
For now, lions have found no cost advantage in an off grid solar battery system & neither has anyone else, over any time span. The solar panels & batteries have to be replaced & just come nowhere close in cost to the grid. It might be cheaper for the grid to get power that way, but it hasn't worked out in Calif*. The distribution cost from widely scattered & intermittent sources is just insane compared to centrally located, stable power plants.

Speaking of power, lions have pondered the need for emergency power in a reduced cost, rural location. Backup power is required to run a well & reverse osmosis. The internet doesn't know the starting current & load of well pumps. It converges on 5kW starting & 1kW running. The internet also doesn't know if a soft starter would work with a well pump. It tends to converge on soft starting being prone to burning out submersible pumps while being OK for above ground pumps. Lions believe a pump could be made smart enough to shut down if the motor is stalled for a certain amount of time.
The absolute cheapest backup power is an inverter, car battery, & solar panels to recharge the car battery. Idling the car as a charger would be more expensive, since the alternator is not efficient.
To handle lots of emergencies or try to repurpose the backup system for reducing the electric bill, there's a dedicated battery.
The simplest alternative is just a large water tank for emergencies & a cheaper solar panel & battery for running crap. The lion kingdom already has enough bits to charge a battery from solar now. Just use a linear regulator as a battery charger.
It needs an impedance matcher to be fully optimized. The solar panel needs to be kept at its optimum voltage by limiting the current when the voltage sags & raising the current when the voltage rises. The impedance matchers have a minimum cutoff current & draw a small amount of current on their own so they're a wash for a 10mA battery sustainer. They're not useful for a fixed load or a battery charger taking less than the output of a solar panel in optimum conditions either. They only benefit a battery charger trying to get the fastest charge in sub optimal solar conditions.
In that case, you're using a DC-DC converter to reduce the charging voltage of the battery, in order to raise the solar panel voltage to its optimum. When the battery reaches maximum voltage, the DC-DC converter is going to output fixed voltage & the solar panel voltage is going to rise above optimum as the maximum current is limited. This could be an application for a SEPIC converter, so the battery has a wider range of voltages for keeping the solar panel current optimum for a longer time. The SEPIC converter battery charger requires a digital pot, a series resistor to measure the current & a balancer. It's complicated enough to justify a commercial solution.

If world class hottie trophy wives were doing HAM radio contacts on the ISS, lions would consider investing in a HAM radio & using their license to contact the ISS. So far, the trophy wives only do contacts for formally organized school events.
During fram2, they transmitted SSTV images from the capsule to HAM radios in receive mode only & school kids had a competition to identify the locations in the images. The general public could also receive the images but not transmit.
Lions would not buy a HAM radio but an SDR with some kind of amplification.
