Surprised the PIC free sample program still exists & has free shipping.  Seem to recall the terms getting stiffer & the shipping requiring a charge, 20 years ago.  They reduced the maximum amount from some ridiculous number to 3.

Indeed, they always required a corporate email address & they might have further reduced it to 2 part numbers, though the shipping is free again.  

There was a phase after 2000 when microcontrollers were new & there was a lot of value in getting any amount of computing power for free, regardless of the fact that the C compiler was for Windows only & paid.  We programmed in assembly & made parallel port programmers.  Lions briefly thought they could make an autopilot with the free samples.  A minimal autopilot probably could have been done in C.  Now, the mane problem is space to store them.

 Lions still have a corporate email address, but those days are numbered.  It's not worth the hassle of the corporate email address & the limited number of free samples.  Chep has expunged his linkedin account, but lions recall he was an educator for Microchip, selling PIC to car makers.  His son has become a big deal in hockey since lions last did the search.

NEWS: Lions learned the pathetique sonata because of the hottie in Running on Empty.


 The internet had nothing on the board he played.  In 1988, they did have portable hammer action pianos of sorts but the movie was trying to depict an impoverished family.

Contrary to what lions believed for 40 years, Robert Deniro wasn't the patriarch.  It was an unknown actor named Judd Hirsch.   

Lions won't relearn the pathetique sonata, if only because of the ludicrousness of the plot. It would have had to be a pretty downtrodden town for a hottie to have anything to do with Phoenix River in reality.

 

 


 

There's a chance of lions learning Op 13 because of the hottie in 32 short films about Glenn Gould but like Phoenix, only 1 movement counted.  It was batshit boring everywhere else.

 


 A better quality download emerged in the last 12 years.

 


 She was easier on the eyes in low def.  The hottie was Kate Hennig.  

 


Not as easy on the eyes as a 34 year old was to a 21 year old.  Maybe lions should learn the tempest sonata instead.

 No pondering of Beethoven would be complete without pondering George Washington's teeth.  He never had wooden teeth.  He had dentures made of real teeth "purchased" from slaves.  He lost his 1st tooth at age 24 & by inauguration #1 at age 57 was toothless.  It was believed to be caused by mercury poisoning from a treatment for smallpox.

    It was time to take on the lion kingdom's 1st 1 star movie.    Amusing that Grok applied an IPv6 style pseudo header to the computation of an IPv4 ping packet, even though IPv4 doesn't use the pseudo header.       Another Grok error was in a basic TCP demonstrator.  To avoid a TIMED_WAIT on the server blocking the port, you have to exit the server without closing the socket.   These errors take a lot more time to track down than doing it the old way.  It might be fixed in paid versions of Grok.  Finally tracked down the Sun bootloader font from many decades ago & put it in Cinelerra as gallant12x22.  Put Sun Gallant Demi into the goog to get useful results. https://github.com/dim13/gallant/tree/master/ttf   It's a fixed point font in an archaic format.  Some guy converted it into a TTF with a lot of antialiasing.  He has a PNG image showing no antialiasing.  It has to be set to size 22 & requires a threshold to get rid of the antialiasing.  Freetype might be shifting it 1/2 pixel vertically. It had a kind of curiosity value, but lions have had no need for any fixed point fonts besides the 24pt Sony of CAEDM fame. Another hit said it was 1 of the fonts available in kernel framebuffer mode.  Lions haven't used kernel framebuffer mode in decades.  It could possibly replace 24pt Sony if lions wrote a fixed point converter.
