Pondering how the Vanderbilt fortune was tragically spent away in 3 generations, lions also recognized the only reason anyone ever heard of the Vanderbilts was the mansions.  The 1st descendant grew the fortune.  Then the 2nd descendant converted it into the mansions rather than truly spending it away.  Similarly, Hearst was only remembered because of his castle & Carnegie was only remembered because of his institution.  If the vanderbilt fortune was kept intact, they would have sacrificed fame for wealthy descendants.

 In the case of a lion, the fortune just isn't big enough to buy anything that would be remembered.  A house lions could afford might be remembered by the next owner, before millennials tore it down & turned it into a grey Frank Lloyd Wright.

 For a good time, compared the 8 day forecast with the actual temperature of the last heat wave at Alcostyou & Bollingalley.

 


 

Surprised by how accurately it nailed the cooldown, 8 days out but temperatures were a miss.  We were hotter than the hotter forecast & cooler than the cooler forecast because of elevation & wind.  There is really no temperature forecast.



By tuesday, the forecast bumped up the temperatures, as it usually does in the modern climate.
 

The apartment complex on 10/5.  Suspect this weather station was hotter than reality.

Ego Monger was hotter & had 1 more day above 90 but was cooler in the week before the heatwave.

These were outstanding.  1 of the rare gourmet foods which were marked down enough for lions to afford.  Sadly, joining all other cheap foods in valhalla now.  They were some kind of wonton wrapping a tomato sauce & minced pepperoni.  Sadly, whole pepperoni is no longer used in fillers. It only exists in lion memory.

 Tried making a deal with the mane whereby it wouldn't be fed at midnight in exchange for an earlier feeding the next day, if it got demanding.  It did get demanding.  Fed it before the run.  It would be quite difficult to eat during the run without eating at midnight.

 The lion kingdom's 3rd or 4th rewatching of The Martian, not including the book, brought more questions than answers. https://heroineworshiper.blogspot.com/2015/06/the-martian.html     Surely, an explosive air lock event would have been confined to just the airlock & not damaged the mane greenhouse. Its theatric run over in 1 month, Project Hail Mary arrived on the hard drive in short order.   After running the Michael Jackson movie for just a week, the IMAX theater now seems to be derelict.  They could be reserving it for private screenings or it could be too expensive to operate. It's a growing number of movies which won't be available in blu ray.  Lions continued to be perplexed by the inferior quality of webrips.      Skimming through it, the resemblance to 80's depictions of the future was striking.         It was a time when the future was painted white & noodled.  Sometimes you have to go back to go forward.   Moving on, they made every effort to pack as much of the book in a 2:30 screening time as possible.  The shots are all very quick.  It was like watching normal movies at 2x.  The book being intended from the start to be a movie definitely helped.   Computer animated exterior s...
