The music of Macneil Lehrer conjures a vivid smell of italian dressing & sound of lettuce crunching.   The old man ate a salad while watching that, every day.  He was devoted enough to donate to PBS & got a license plate cover for it.  Lions remembered it manely as the Macneil Lehrer report, before it became the news hour, but do remember the more modern incarnations on better TV's.

 Revewing bits, it was pretty campy, low budget talking in a minimal set.  Always thought it was british, based on the music & macneil's accent.  Macneil was canadian.

The Macneil Lehrer sound also revived a memory of financial stability, all the bills taken care of, no worries about employment, no rent inflation, having unlimited time, no anxiety attacks yet.  The old man stopped watching it some time in the late 80's, with longer commutes, more anxiety.  1983 comes across as the bottom of the anxiety.  It went up & up, thereafter.

The memory of an impartial, stable anchor in the dangerous world might have been universal for generation X because they saw the impartial stable anchor of their parents watching it during that phase of development, leading to Jim Lehrer's stint moderating debates.

Pondering the anxiety attacks from 1984 onwards, the old man's anxiety attacks seemed to have intensified by 80.  He had shifted from accusing lions of being destined for poverty to accusing lions of being overpaid.  It was the dystopian opposite of the usual battle where the heirs are broke & fight for the parent's money.

 Lions pondered how things would have gone if genetics & development were just a hair different.  If mom was any more submissive, she would have committed suicide or at least tried & become a vegetable.  Lions manely know it from dating attainable women & the cases of extreme depression they had.  The lion kingdom would have probably run away or been homeless.

 If mom was more assertive, she would have gotten a divorce, followed the ex wife's path & the lion kingdom's development might have followed the brother's, less educated but probably wealthier.

 She was just assertive enough to survive, it seems.  Maybe it was an instinctive rebellion animals evolved for survival.  Lions feel guilty for not recognizing 1 anxiety attack, almost stopping mom from going to alligator farm because the old man in a wave of anxiety wanted her to stay home.  That was the last time she would have enough mobility to go to alligator farm & the coast.  She would be mostly crippled forever after.

The mind remembers only positives, but as the internet triggers more memories of the 80's by recognition, the darker they become.  It was no picnic.  It was challenge after challenge before lions even got to the age of raging hormones.  Not sure if lions had particular stresses or if all animals go through an anxiety phase in their single digits.

Lots of disappearing foods but not the foods lions notice & not for the same reasons.  Most of the cheap stuff disappeared because of rising prices.  Jimmy Dean microwave eggs, large protein powder, fire wok, were the big ones that disappeared in 2026.  Cheaper frozen burritos, tacos, hamburgers disappeared from Targ but still exist at Wally.  

 Frozen orange juice struck lions as 1 of the staples of childhood, now the lowest end items that unsurprisingly disappeared.  That level of home food preparation abounded in a long past era & now is manely gone.  It wouldn't be surprising if basic ingredients soon disappeared, flour, sugar, most rice & most basic spices.

Its theatric run over in 1 month, Project Hail Mary arrived on the hard drive in short order.   After running the Michael Jackson movie for just a week, the IMAX theater now seems to be derelict.  They could be reserving it for private screenings or it could be too expensive to operate. It's a growing number of movies which won't be available in blu ray.  Lions continued to be perplexed by the inferior quality of webrips.      Skimming through it, the resemblance to 80's depictions of the future was striking.         It was a time when the future was painted white & noodled.  Sometimes you have to go back to go forward.   Moving on, they made every effort to pack as much of the book in a 2:30 screening time as possible.  The shots are all very quick.  It was like watching normal movies at 2x.  The book being intended from the start to be a movie definitely helped.   Computer animated exterior s...

 The lion kingdom's 3rd or 4th rewatching of The Martian, not including the book, brought more questions than answers. https://heroineworshiper.blogspot.com/2015/06/the-martian.html     Surely, an explosive air lock event would have been confined to just the airlock & not damaged the mane greenhouse. The cycle fatigue would have manifested itself as a slow leak long before.  The book had him restarting some food growth after the explosion.  We now know a lot of bacteria can survive in space for a long time & we now have far more capability to send a resupply payload.  The business of traveling across the country to have every single dialog seemed overdone in 2025, but might have been more justified in 2015.  It was manely for dramatic effect. 10 years on, the clueless executive assistant is a world class hottie.  She's now 52.
