It might be the quality of millenial writers, the quality of extemporaneously produced gootube content, the lion kingdom's reduced attention span, or modern politicians, but Xena is a lot easier on the ears than 20 years ago.
Certainly more believable than Atomic Blondie. Modern heroines aren't believable. They either get beaten up beyond death or they're way too feminine. Modern audiences are a lot more conservative than 20 years ago.
