The only real contest is socialist democrats vs. liberal democrats. There isn't a republican party anymore. An independent who ran as a democrat is no longer democrat enough. Anyone who would have been a republican 40 years ago is now a democrat because there's no future as republicans.

The lion kingdom noted all the stores within walking distance have closed or moved north. A 20 year campaign to make the lion neighborhood the center of town has fizzled. The peak of the town center was 2018-2020. Government ordered shutdowns put a lot of places out of business in 2020 & the rest never recovered.

Animals who are concerned about having to go back to driving to feed their manes have to compare now to the way it was 20 years ago. Until 2004, Target had no food. It just had a garden section. The only food was an expensive place next door & Albertsons 2 miles away. Now, there's Target 1 mile away & Safeway 2 miles away. The lion kingdom doesn't consider Trader Joe & Whole Paycheck replacements for what was.

It has declined to being as walkable as 2003. Lions have to go at minimum 1 mile to Target & the days of satisfying mane cravings next door are over. The hardware store next door closed long ago. That's now 2 miles away, but it wasn't as big an impact as the food.
