When all else fails, the lion kingdom has been defaulting to Close Encounters. This scene was a particularly scary memory but now lions only notice how the furniture of rural 1977 was all from the 50's.
Modern lions only notice how little clothing the women of 1977 wore. They were still in the world of the 60's.
The house is still there in Alabama, unchanged. The platform on the roof was from a deleted scene. It all seems a bit desolate compared to 1977. It was a big deal to see back yards joined without fences.
It all looks ragged because what we're now building to take animals to the stars is sleek, shiny, & stainless steel.
The piano keyboard moved horizontally but not vertically as modern ones do. Just horizontal movement was pretty schmick to a younger lion.
Funny how the alien ships flew right over Dreyfuss in the final scene like he wasn't there, after blasting him with lights & putting visions in his head.
Then they pick only him out of the group of jump suiters to take a ride.
But the jump suiters weren't shown in the last scene. Did they all board the ship or did they all go home? How would the midget aliens feed such large animals? It must have been like a zoo. Suspect the 1st serving of alien food would have been the real decision point about whether to stay with the aliens or bail out.
Once again reminded the lion kingdom's HD copy dropped the ship interior. The interior was added in 1980. Spielberger didn't want the scene, so that's why it's not in the HD copy. There apparently was an HD version which had the interior. Besides the visuals, the interior scene showed how Dreyfuss may have been assimilated into the ship when he was showered in light particles.
Amidst all the foreign anti gravity technology, the ship contains the all too familiar pressure vessels of the aerospace industry.
This shot was added in 1980.
The gatherings of UFO scientists were actually part of the Mayflower project, an organization only revealed on the internet.
A big disappointment for younger lion was that the landing site was at the bottom of devil's tower instead of the top. Originally thought it was on top & the scenes showing it at the bottom were showing a smaller mountain on top of devil's tower. The internet never explained this decision.
It took a long time for lions to realize the sounds were horns rather than electronic.
There are only a couple low res photos of the top. It actually looks roomy enough for the landing site.
There's just 1 photo of an animal & parachute for scale. It was taken in 1941, before helicopters. The animal was stuck there for 6 days, waiting to be rescued from below.
Anyways, there's a printable model of devil's tower.

Sketchfab also has a fairly high resolution model of gloria victis, downloadable after lengthy signup.

There are no high quality models of antiope, heroine statue, palace of fine arts, heroine of arc.
Sketchfab's models are otherwise the usual trash.
Dreamed about being in a lecture hall, taking a test, having to solve an inductor problem & finishing before anyone else. Thought the solution was too easy & must have been wrong.
