The lion kingdom has now witnessed 2 internet remedies:
For floaters: take Bromelain which is found in pineapples
For skin tags: Mix iodine & garlic juice. Apply twice a day for 2 weeks.
Internet remedies sound about as ridiculous as they did 30 years ago. Just 28 applications of iodine & garlic? How many garlic cloves & bandages is that? The mane problem with skin tag removal is having another animal groping around the private parts.
Lions get diahrea from straight pineapples because of the fructose, but never saw any change in floaters from eating pineapples. There is a bromelain supplement by snail mail.
So the RP2040 is the replacement for the atmega328. The mane thing is it's dirt cheap & it's still being produced. It has no internal flash. It has to load the program from external flash to its 256k of RAM, which limits the program to 256k at most. It has an ADC, timers, & the usual digital serial interfaces. It goes up to 400Mhz. It's generally lightyears ahead of the atmega328, despite the external flash & the pain in the ass QFN.
The other thing is it has 2 cortex M0 cores with no floating point. It's been at least 15 years of multi core microcontrollers & no-one has ever made any practical use of them. They might use the 2nd core for housekeeping, controlling a radio, reading a peripheral, while the mane processor processes the data. No-one's trying to run multi threaded programs. It's a very consistent job interview question for how you arbitrate contention between multiple processors & that might be the mane selling point.
The mane use of the dual cores seems to be a tensorflow lite implementation that they ported. There was so little practical use for tensorflow lite on a 2Ghz quad core ARM, it's hard to believe it would have any use on an RP2040 besides job interviews.
Besides the price being $1 in large quantities, it's nowhere close to what $10 bought 5 years ago. The STM32's 5 years ago had 2MB of flash, utterly gigantic by today's standards.
The Gimp ended 64 days of uptime, with a load line explosion out of HPUX lore. It just went to 100% & nothing would kill it.
Uptime is a rare thing nowadays, since hibernate mode usually crashes Linux. Sometimes, hibernate mode can be recovered with the power button when the keyboard doesn't work. Lions also discovered how to recover the nvidia driver by unloading nvidia_uvm. Finally, there was the discovery that Vuze leaks memory. These discoveries allowed longer uptime.
No-one still cares about how long Linux goes without a reboot. The phone is what gets animals excited the way having a maneframe at home once did & no-one cares about drop kicking a phone every day. Data centers don't care about uptime. They just run ephemeral virtual machines on hosts that constantly get drop kicked.
Hussy sister update.
Generation X sighting. Is it male or female?
The lion kingdom could actually drive to Hussy's in a day, either during the Vegas years or Death Valley era.
