Some familiar faces live in the microscopic scale of plants.  It's another example of the same structures reoccurring in all living things.  If a structure opens & closes an air passage, might as well use it.  What would vegans say about eating something which was biomorphically the same as a human mouth?

Evolving the re-enactment idea, it's not an actual summer day in the life but the perfect summer day in the life that you want.  When reviewing the history of lions, it could have been a day which never happened but which is the sum of the good parts of many days.  Lions didn't have perfect summers.  They were full of dread over the coming weekend or the return to school.  There might have been some impending task like watering the garden.  Sometimes, they were just plain boring.

In the history of lions, there might have been a few summer days which could be considered perfect.  Sadly, lions can't remember any specific day but just fuse together the good parts of many days to construct a representative day.

The lion kingdom's 1st memory was staring at the ceiling from a crib in San Francisco.  There was a window on the opposite wall revealing a neighboring victorian & a drainage pipe.  It was always cloudy.  Was playing with tinker toys & they would not stay together.  1 day, the cardboard drum containing the tinker toys was covered in splotches of white paint.  The bedroom was attached to a mane room.  It was always dark.  The floors were hard wood which was unpleasant in the eternal winter.  There was a bay window with triangular pillows mom sewed.  There was a water shortage.

Then there was a memory of getting on a bus & getting in the uncle's van on Market St.  The smell of MUNI busses in those days was a pungent memory.  The van was dark & scary.  It had a round table.

The mane positive memories as they relate to re-enactment are the summers of 1982-1987.  Sadly, summers before then are unintelligible fragments of baby sitter houses on hot afternoons, preschool on hot days, station wagons.  Was preschool year round?  Was there a baby sitter during the summer?  Lions don't know.

All lions did in 1982-1983 was watch TV all day.  There was no magic.  It was just campy KQED shows during the day, cartoons on KTVU & KBHK from 3-5.  Of course, there were toys.  1984 was the introduction of the computer.  It was sitting on the dining room table one day & lions just wanted to make it draw pictures.  The 1st commands were natural language which resulted in ?SYNTAX ERROR.  After spending forever looking up the word SYNTAX, realized it required a commands in a programming language.

The 1st magazine listings a lion copied were from a newsprint magazine in 1984.  1 was a plant growth game & another was a roman numeral converter.   That was not a proud memory.  Archive was unable to find any matching Compute issue.

1985 is considered the happy time.  That was spent programming magazine listings or just experimenting while the battery powered radio blared K101 until its battery died every afternoon.   Lots of commercials about Live Aid.  Still came TV from 3-5, toys, & drawing cartoons.  The perfect day most likely occurred that summer.  That was the last time time was truly unlimited.

1985 or 1986 was the beginning of an annual trip to Yosemite.  After the annual vacations started, there would never again be an uninterrupted summer of just lion goofing off.

The wheels started falling off in 1986.  Marital difficulties abounded.  Season tickets began.  Lions got really into drawing cartoons after Robotech aired in 1985.  That was the seminal moment in the history of what could be done with ink & paper.  There was a really nice glow in the dark toy with a nice smell.

1987 was the summer that began with the aunt staying over.  Then the big vacation was a trip to Seattle.  For the remaneder of it, it was just cold.  More season tickets.  That was the 1st time lions noticed all the mornings were cloudy & all the afternoons were sunny.  It was most peculiar.

That was the last summer of the happy time.  Later summers would be difficult.  Some of that difficulty was anxiety in lion heads.

The lack of air conditioning in that house was a forgotten pain.  Young lion knew air conditioning was an extra the old man didn't want to pay for.  Seem to recall going downstairs to cool off.  Starting in 1988, young lion spent all day in the buff, which made it bearable.  It still doesn't have air conditioning.  Zill just leaves out any mention of cooling.

The entire span from age 13-60 might be just intended to create the means to get back to doing what we were doing before age 13.  Someone who managed to achieve good health & finances could probably live out his days in a childhood re-enactment.

Lions have it much better now in some ways than they did 40 years ago.  In other ways, 1985 was a lot simpler & there was something to be gleamed about not having a lot of the current stuff.  Maybe a re-enactment would be less evolved.  It wouldn't be boring with just the stuff of those days.  The mane difficulty is lions don't stay inside all day like they used to.  A tiny apartment is different than a 2200sq ft house.

It's unlikely Retro Recipe guy is as fanatic about nostalgia as he says.  A lot of it is for clicks.  The amount of home equity & rental income that guy has could pay for an early retirement & return to childhood if he really wanted to.
