Thought it was funny getting a "Kubernetes expert" in the flood of job seeker spam that lions get. Guys who work in devops constantly brag about the current big thing & it's always different every year. 1 year, they constantly bragged about Kubernetes being the current big thing. Then they bragged about Thinkspeek. Now the kubernetes experts are looking for jobs.
Lions have found not keeping up with the acronym treadmill doesn't pay enough to retire or ever own a house, but it doesn't lead to starvation.
The wireless flash project began in earnest right after the leash was finished on 12/1. The 1st week was creating hardware & a bootloader which was discarded. The 2nd week was creating new hardware & the transmitter firmware. The 3rd week is creating the receiver firmware & enclosures with any luck.
It got lions wondering if it's more effective to burn 3 weeks of rent or $2000 on something that costs only $110 in today's money. Rent is $100 per day, so anything under $100 is technically cheaper to buy than to spend 1 day creating. The trick is how much of each day is spent on the gadget & how much is spent on other things that happen either way.
It feels like lions get less done than they did 20 years ago because they now make more of the things which used to automatically appear. At the same time, the quality of the stuff lions make is better than the automatic version.
