The lion kingdom finally created another python revival in the form of a gphoto2 wrapper.

The history of lions & CLI programming is intriguing.  Like most animals, the bottom line in the 8 bit days was an interactive text program.  The BASIC run command had no command line arguments.  Neither did the sys command.  Only primitives like load, poke, peek took arguments.   Lions then wrote a text VMS C program & a few C programs for Mac ThinkC, with minimal command line arguments.

Lions started out in Linux by only making GUI programs, as it was the shareware age & lions envisioned monetizing everything.   The front end for audio compression & audio recording was a GUI for no reason.  That was the emphasis for several years as a GUI appeared to make programs more attractive.

After 2003, lions favored pure command line for most everything, most famously a calculator program.  1 reason was learning more about the possibilities of console interfaces.  The rest of the industry became like 20 year old lion, favoring GUIs.  The biggest examples of waste are the wrappers for writing disk images instead of running dd.  Maybe they try to reduce the chance of overwriting a  filesystem.

Software is so abundant & ephemeral nowadays, a GUI or any more than a minimal GUI is usually a waste.  No-one else is going to ever discover your workout logger or your gootube downloader.  No-one is looking for new programs anymore.

Still unfinished is the CP33 recording app.  The browser is just good enough to stay alive.

Jay Leno semi truck review.

Surprising how the cab is unused empty space.  All lions can think about are burn injuries.  The worst thing that can happen to a movie star is a burn injury.  Makeup hid most of it.  If it happened 40 years ago or if he was a woman, it would have been over.
