A 2nd note after https://growmane.blogspot.com/2024/09/interesting-question-was-what-if.html
The more lions hear sounds like this evoking 80's nostalgia, the more they realize those warm 80's moments probably never happened but are fabrications from many times. Dolphin delight actually came out in 2010. It conjures a memory of a lazy overcast vacation day in winter or a lazy evening in summer. An overcast day or purple evening which really happened in the 80's might be getting fused with a time lions chose to tune out in the recent past.
The only times lions really tuned out in the 80's were when they had headaches in the evening. It was a negative time.
The memories of the real 80's have trended darker in reality. The old man was off & on, constantly in a panic over the sky falling, never able to be the mentor that many gootubers described as essential in their careers. It wasn't the lion kingdom's choice. There wasn't a mentorship to be had. The old man viewed success as entirely dependent on formal, theoretical, non vocational education rather than informal hobbies. He wouldn't have built any electronic contraption or program as a hobby, even if he could. He didn't have any assembler or C compiler at home.
You had to work around the evenings & weekends in those days. You were only going to be productive during the weekdays because the other times were reserved for a manufactured crisis.
The more the real 80's return, the less inclined lions are to invest in C64 software.

Lions are nowhere close to making even the bare minimum salary in a top tier company like the Goog, but they still don't have to commute & will still be able to retire eventually. The very bottom of Goog employees a few years ago were making at least $200k in salary, bonus & stonk options. Lions would have to burn over $5k a year commuting, would have to stop doing much of anything at home, but would come out ahead of now.
Everyone at the Goog is an automatic multi millionaire after a few years of that & the raises. If lions got in during their last application in 2019, they would be multi millionaires now. The media doesn't like revealing that the layoffs only affected non technical roles. They want to convey the existence of a widespread technology meltdown which hasn't really happened.
The modern regime of 6 hours of standardized testing for a job hasn't worked out as well as standardized testing did in school. Lions had to study for it in school, but it was straight forward & had a narrower pool of questions. For jobs, it's been a lot more open ended & possibly more impacted by lasting 6 hours instead of the 2 hours of a school test. Job interviews also only get a few days of lead time where school tests would have months of lead time. Those applicants spend months studying for interviews they're not certain to even get.
The last goog interview featured a problem of scheduling tasks in which you had to use a millisecond clock, a sorted list of tasks, & fire off tasks based on the current time. Lions used their past experience managing a table of interrupts, which was much more difficult but necessary for nanosecond precision, & not possible to get right in a timed interview.
Another problem was describing how to read & write memory in an SMP system, what kind of operations it would need in order to prevent race conditions.
Forgot or erased the other questions, but they might have been easier. There was one related to addressing a bitmap using bytes for every 8 pixels.
Different places either expect you to talk through a white board programming problem or expect you to just do it. Goog is 1 place which expects you to talk through the solution but the current day job expects you to just do it.

What impact will an AGI have on the stonk market? It depends on the AGI's goal. If it's goal was maximum valuation, it would gradually buy all of the stonk market through perfect trades until it owned all the stonk in the world & no cash. The stonk market would experience extreme deflation, infinite cost. Animals wouldn't be able to buy shares for any price. The only buying would be from IPOs, but the AGI would be the only one who made money. Animals would always buy at a higher price than they sold & they would always sell to the AGI.
If it's goal was perpetual income for buying electricity or silicon, it would have to eventually sell. It would probably cause volatility as it would own most of the stonk market.
