The last run of 2024 was a slow 11.6 miler in the usual rotation.  2024 ended with 2408 miles, crippled by degraded tendon function but better than 2022 because of the leash.  Development of heal striking, metronome, & an optimum rest day frequency led to a rapid escalation after june with no regaining of tendon function.  2023 was the year lions traversed the circumference of the Earth. 2024 was the last year any HIIT was possible.

With the last OpenGL wish taken care of, the lion kingdom was at another impasse where really the only desires were the C64 work & possibly the abandoned BFR game, but nothing besides games that would serve no other purpose than 1 time demos.  

 


It was a year when very little new stuff was built because most of the effort was on software, there's not enough room, the next steps got more expensive than ever before, & previously built stuff was in need of improvement.  

A home made blower idea went nowhere & got replaced by the last stock Hunter blower.  The new blower still needs a stand.

 There is a desire for a single foot pedal shutter control, using a sewing machine pedal.  Those don't automatically restore. Even a home made pedal would be better than what's around now.

 Dreamed about returning to where the lion kingdom was 24 years ago, a day job which didn't really cover expenses but was the only option.  The reality was a lot more depressing than it originally felt.  Young lion wasn't aware of the mountain of debt.  It might have been deferred during that time, along with some housing expenses, allowing some accumulation of wealth.  He did accumulate enough to pay for a new car, cover a period of unemployment & contribute to a 401k in the 1st year of employment.

1 positive note that escaped the dream was that lions didn't have to do anything but whatever project they wanted during that time & there was lots of need for foundational work in that area instead of clickbait.  It was kind of heavenly.  If lions got employed by FUTO on their own projects or even the right kind of foundational multimedia/robotics, it might be worth a significant drop in income.

 Working on Ross Guy's really dry phone projects, not so much.  The problem with Ross Guy is he's a hustler who gravitates towards very low skill hustling work, grinding out the same 4 clickbait videos every week just for 1 million views, grinding out the same really boring software everyone grinds out.

The stonk market moved sideways since the last net worth calculation in July, so lions suspect there was no meaningful change.  Salary doesn't make any significant change but probably outpaced stonk growth, so lions have room to invest.  With salary making most of the difference & most if it coming in the 1st half of the year, July would be the only useful calculation.

Since Dec 2021, the stonk market rose 23% or 7.6% per year. That's significantly below the historic 10%.

Its theatric run over in 1 month, Project Hail Mary arrived on the hard drive in short order.   After running the Michael Jackson movie for just a week, the IMAX theater now seems to be derelict.  They could be reserving it for private screenings or it could be too expensive to operate. It's a growing number of movies which won't be available in blu ray.  Lions continued to be perplexed by the inferior quality of webrips.      Skimming through it, the resemblance to 80's depictions of the future was striking.         It was a time when the future was painted white & noodled.  Sometimes you have to go back to go forward.   Moving on, they made every effort to pack as much of the book in a 2:30 screening time as possible.  The shots are all very quick.  It was like watching normal movies at 2x.  The book being intended from the start to be a movie definitely helped.   Computer animated exterior s...
