 Another change of plans into a long night tinning 16 leads & moving 4 connectors to the penultimate ATX module in the apartment.  The very last ATX module is the 2nd one lions ever got.  It has a noisy, constant speed fan from the days before economy modes.

 


 


 

Lions still insist soldering novel connectors is superior to having multiple power bricks.  Years ago, it was possible to connect into standard hard drive connectors.  Modern ATX power supplies no longer have those, but have a different style of connector every year.

 



 

This was an enermax lions obtained in 2008 & started using after 2019 for powering raspberry pi's & a battery charger.  Instead of a dramatic capacitor explosion, it quietly shut down after a few minutes of use.  The caps were better than usual.





 It had a lot of LM393's.  They can be used as op-amps with a very unstable output.  The other DIPs were PWM controllers & power factor controllers.


Then we had a lot of shottky diodes & giant MOSFETs.

 Having now amassed a large supply of old transistors & giant heat sinks from many power supplies, the thought occurred of making a class A amplifier for demonstration purposes.  It would be too power hungry for practical use.

 Practical amplifiers are large beasts, especially if they're made of discrete parts.  The most complex amplifier a lion could fit is going to be just a transistor with cap & large heat sink.  As power hungry as it is, a single 20W channel would only use as much as a lightbulb, 40 years ago.

The cheap imports of the west are built on janky bamboo scaffolding, flammable materials, & lack of fire sprinklers.  The AI generated news coverage contains bugger all.  It was a low income complex built in the 1980's & undergoing renovation.

    It was time to take on the lion kingdom's 1st 1 star movie.  Finally tracked down the Sun bootloader font from many decades ago & put it in Cinelerra as gallant12x22.  Put Sun Gallant Demi into the goog to get useful results. https://github.com/dim13/gallant/tree/master/ttf   It's a fixed point font in an archaic format.  Some guy converted it into a TTF with a lot of antialiasing.  He has a PNG image showing no antialiasing.  It has to be set to size 22 & requires a threshold to get rid of the antialiasing.  Freetype might be shifting it 1/2 pixel vertically. It had a kind of curiosity value, but lions have had no need for any fixed point fonts besides the 24pt Sony of CAEDM fame. Another hit said it was 1 of the fonts available in kernel framebuffer mode.  Lions haven't used kernel framebuffer mode in decades.  It could possibly replace 24pt Sony if lions wrote a fixed point converter.   The lunar eclipse situation. Diced tomato spagetti 2.  Plain noodles shining through the diced tomatos, meatballs, oregano, pepper, & cheese still has what it takes.  It's better than watered down sauces with tiny bits of meat. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Once again pondered if the S & P is another Nikkei 225. The nikkei is back where it last collapsed, 40 years ago, with a similar rate of increase in the last 25% but slower in the preceding years.  Maybe the index fund play has worn out or maybe it hasn't.
