2026 movies kicked off with the lion kingdom's transcoded copy of Rear Window.   A favorite of young lion because of the representation of all the unique lives through their windows, the cozy time James Stewart had, the clever use of 1 set, the dominance of the women.

Helas, a bit slower to old lion than it was.  Not sure if watching everything in 2x has changed lion perception of time.  We were told things moved slower in the past, yet they're shown having more lives 70 years ago than we do now.  At least there was a lot more doing & less spectating.  The sum total of most lives now is scrolling & spectating exactly the same thing.

Vacuum tube AM radio was the best they had in 1954.

A real piano was the only way to do it, even in a tiny apartment.  No decent electric pianos for 40 more years.  No-one would be fully clothed in that heat, nowadays.  They would all be at least shirtless & they would have a lot of fans.

They lived in the world that was built in the 1940's, down to the kitchens.  It was another fascinatingly primitive one, like the one in Whose afraid of Virginia Wolfe.  No designer cabinets or designer faucets.  All grey paint.  Not sure if everything was grey because pigment was harder to come by before 1950.  Notice the color of clothing before that time.  Kitchens in those days might have been pure utility spaces instead of the showpieces they are today.

Wasn't sure if his day job provided the paid leave & insurance.  He mentioned insurance once but not who paid for it.  Only 1 photographer in the world has such benefits today & his name is Kraus.  Definitely not as much for a stationary person to do in those days.

No realtime NEXRAD or instant forecasts in those days.

It was a 400mm F 5.6 on an Exakta Varex, really schmick for its time.  Sadly, lions haven't had enough use for their DSLR system to justify any such thing.  It's already too bulky to ever use as much as a phone.

Pianists didn't attract so many women in the last 40 years & neither did men with any talent for that matter, as the social order became more practical & the economy shifted away from value.  The idea of talented men being attractive might have been a wive's tale.

By this point, it was the Burbs or whatever the original inspiration was. Lions somewhat recalled the ending but it wasn't obvious until then.

Women shall not be so deviant, at least in the modern movies lions see.  The marvell characters are right down the middle.

From IMDB:  The color did look off & it was because the film dies degraded by the 1960's.

Alfred Hitchcock on camera while directing an actor.
