A quick play through of Robotech Shadow Chronicles at 2x was pretty disappointing.  Definitely a westernized addition to the series.  All that canned dialog would be unbearable at 1x.

A lot of the original voice actors returned, sadly less recognizable.  Among the changes, the iconic Lisa Hayes voice was gone.  To account for the voice change, they changed invid Marlene's name to Ariel & Marlene referred to just the deceased girlfriend from MOSPEADA.  It all made it a bit confusing.  They did credit the original Lisa Hayes voice, but it might have been a brief appearance in the ending.

Paw drawn mecha were replaced with dark, low grade computer animation while characters were still cells.  Most of the original shock factor was knowing the complicated mecha sequences were painstakingly drawn.

There was a pirated HD copy long ago whose stills adorned IMDB.  All that remanes is a potato quality copy from gootube which made the CGI unwatchable.

Act 1 was a reimagining of the last MOSPEADA episode with computer animated mecha & all new character cells.  The big change was Scott Bernard's invid flame surviving & joining him in space.

By this time, every season was an assembly line of ever growing adversaries.  This time around, it was another alien race more powerful than the Invid & which looked like minions.

Interesting to compare the android heroine character to what language models have actually achived.  Some animals actually perceive a living being when they converse with language models.  Lions have yet to see anything as convincing as characters in any cartoon, but at least there's been a progression towards the AI in cartoons.  There was no AI in the original Robotech series.  Every machine was very conspicuously manually driven in 1985.

Lions got intrigued with Shadow Chronicles because of time traveling Jessie Anderson showing up in the comic art.  According to the kiwipedia timeline, she had to travel to 2044 in order to appear in a cartoon made in 2006.  She was the nurse wife of 1 of the many protagonists.  That gender role wouldn't be allowed in a modern movie even though it's reality.

Maybe it was a sign 6 years ago, but now SpaceX is in a mad search for new killer apps instead of going to Mars.  The original idea was for 3rd parties to develop the killer apps to fund it after starship proved itself.  The heat shield, the ground infrastructure, & the fluid management proved a lot harder than expected.  It's now many years away from proving itself, so they've become the ones trying to develop the fundraising while the Mars thing has become someone else's problem.
