From the opening AI generated spaceship animations & random AI generated scene morphs, supergirl was a steaming pile of dog turd & lions were lured once again into yet another a marvel movie.  1984 supergirl was so bad, it didn't stay on the hard drive.  The franchise was cursed from the beginning.  IMDB gave them 4.4 & 5.9.  

Apparently, according to IMDB, some losers still watch these movies in a theater.  Unlike when lions were 20 & going to theaters because they didn't have any screen, the modern cohort goes to theaters just for the sake of going to theaters.  The comic book adaptations are now based on a medium which has been gone for generations.  The current audience only knows of comic books from archaeology.

 


 

 Played the 1st 1h36 entirely at 1x because it was quite dense.  Then it hit the brakes & it went to 2x.  After all the panic about saving the doge, they took their sweet old time finally giving the doge antidote.

 

Supergirl has serious dental problems.  It wasn't kryptonite.


Dialog rolls off like it was written by a 10 year old.  It sounded like they were impressing supergirl being a young girl, but it was unbearable after 1 hour. 

 Disappointing that she didn't wear the costume for 80 minutes & the quest was saving her dog/sidekick instead of a man.


 She saved her sidekick a few times.


 Lions kept only a segment where 1984 supergirl saved a man.  This role playing has gotten banned in the last 15 years because it became widely known to turn on men.

 

It's become clear that AI is now used for the creative generation of all costumes, but because the output is only 2D, the conversion into physical costumes & 3D meshes is still biological.

AI generated garbage bag costumes & spaceships were a real detractor.  Physical incarnations might have been rendered by bio modelers but the automation of the creative side has created a dogshit world.

Comparing 1984 supergirl to 2026 supergirl, the 1984 version had a towering 5'8" 21 year old pretending to be older & saving a man.  The 2026 version had a shorty 5'5" 26 year old pretending to be younger & saving a female sidekick.  The tall one refused to be in the 2026 version because it was so stupid, but she was in the successful TV series.


 

 There was a kind of comic relief in the scariest looking Kiss guy being a good guy.  

 


 Then we got a reprive of the Gabrielle role, with the sidekick not being allowed to kill & then the heroine doing the kill when the sidekick was off screen.  That must be some storytelling tradition.  Lions were reminded of Xena: The Debt, the killing of the villain when Gabrielle was off screen.

 

Introductions & unfinished subplots abounded for a future sequel which would never happen.  2026 supergirl was so bad, it made lions ponder just downloading the 1984 version to see if it existed in HD.

Its theatric run over in 1 month, Project Hail Mary arrived on the hard drive in short order.   After running the Michael Jackson movie for just a week, the IMAX theater now seems to be derelict.  They could be reserving it for private screenings or it could be too expensive to operate. It's a growing number of movies which won't be available in blu ray.  Lions continued to be perplexed by the inferior quality of webrips.      Skimming through it, the resemblance to 80's depictions of the future was striking.         It was a time when the future was painted white & noodled.  Sometimes you have to go back to go forward.   Moving on, they made every effort to pack as much of the book in a 2:30 screening time as possible.  The shots are all very quick.  It was like watching normal movies at 2x.  The book being intended from the start to be a movie definitely helped.   Computer animated exterior s...
