Another Alamo run went a lot better than the one on 8/22. Weather was much cooler.

 Managed a 9 minute pace for roughly 14 miles, which was a hair longer than many moons.  Took a food break & succumbed to unilateral posterior tibialis degradation after 16 miles.  It's still pretty bleak, considering the last competitive marathon was 1 year ago.  1 year ago, lions were throwing down 26 miles like no-one's business but very much alternating between walk & run days, doing nothing above an 8 minute pace.

Dreamed about  having the talk after 7 years in the same place.  The CEO was now a really young, shirtless, & clueless pacific islander.  "So you're not doing anything related to the company"  "The AI automation has that effect"  "You got that right"

 Lions could tell they really didn't want to make their 1st AI related layoff & destroy morale.  Then he got quiet, beat around the bush, & the talk seemed to fizzle.

The fact is lions will have the talk but it won't be with a really young pacific islander & it won't be as depressing as the last ones.  It's just going to be 6 months waiting for unemployment to expire, apartment hunting, & moving.

Lions recently pondered the prospects of waking up in 20 years as broke as a fast food employee, after the retirement fund is 50% drained & stonks go nowhere.  The easiest way around it would be to go as off grid as possible.  Buy yet another plot of land & put a mobile home on it or move to the midwest.

Continuing the fascination with remote Quebec, finished the absolute dog turd of a movie Canadian Bacon at 1.5-2x.  It was John Candy's last movie, an ironic pairing of a canadian actor with canadia bashing.  Did the movie utilize this pairing in any witty jokes?  Absolutely not.

 

 



 

Lions previously only saw the Dan Aykroyd scene in syndication, & possibly the ending.  The french translations were probably funnier the 1st time because it was at 1x & lions were still 25.  1995 was the period lions didn't watch movies.  It was not a nostalgic time, which might have enhanced Candy's earlier movies in lion minds.  

 





The most amusing bits were aerials of Viagra falls in 1993 & the mob packing military weapons around the POTUS.  Otherwise pondered why this movie existed, how IMDB managed to rate it above Delerious & Who's Harry Crumb, which lions considered better.

Dan Aykroyd was strangely not credited.

For this movie to work in lion minds, the canadian ruler should have started invading US on his own & our merry band should have invaded Canadia to stop the invasion.  It was all a big mess, seemingly to work in the military industrial complex & republican conspiracy, portraying Canadia as good, as our director Michael Moore was want to do in every single movie.

 Noted it was only shown in 14 theaters, shot 2 years before it was released, lost 90% of its budget.

Its theatric run over in 1 month, Project Hail Mary arrived on the hard drive in short order.   After running the Michael Jackson movie for just a week, the IMAX theater now seems to be derelict.  They could be reserving it for private screenings or it could be too expensive to operate. It's a growing number of movies which won't be available in blu ray.  Lions continued to be perplexed by the inferior quality of webrips.      Skimming through it, the resemblance to 80's depictions of the future was striking.         It was a time when the future was painted white & noodled.  Sometimes you have to go back to go forward.   Moving on, they made every effort to pack as much of the book in a 2:30 screening time as possible.  The shots are all very quick.  It was like watching normal movies at 2x.  The book being intended from the start to be a movie definitely helped.   Computer animated exterior s...
