Feel the pain of 30 million rejections.  Truth be told, polyamory & cohabiting replaced most of that.  The percentage of truly single men is much higher in silicon valley.  60% is a more likely number here.

 ------------------------------

As expected, the delayed trades after Friday's inflation miss executed over the next 2 days & then we were down 3% from the all time high in August. Then the fall accelerated after the interest rate hike.

Now they're saying to expect 4% by year's end.  It could be more jawboning to lower long term yields.

The retiretube permabulls of the last 5 years are now bailing out of the S&P index fund because for the 1st time in 20 years they can get a bigger return from bonds than stonks.  The Dave Ramsey plan just about died in as much time as it grew.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The day job completed a long awaited either acquisition or merger.  It was a long time partner that they previously cited as a top candidate for a parent company.  No mention of a liquidity event or RIF yet.  Merely getting $5k from the stonk options would be a windfall for lion grade underclass startups.  Funny thing is the incoming CEO mentioned increasing head count, but it might be the usual merge of their existing staff while axing redundancies.

Lions pondered the next steps some more.  After the last acquisition in 2009, they waited 6 months before the cuts.  The exiting CEO sounded pretty defensive of the headcount, this time.  The entering CEO sounded pretty robotic.

Definitely better if they did the RIF now than lease expiration in summer 2027.  6 months of paychecks won't make as much difference as reducing rent.

With the extended bear market now in its 3rd year & day job uncertainty, it seems lions will miss their bingo number by $50k.  It would have taken employment until 55, no matter what.  A freak bull market or inheritance in the future could still do it.  It was once the minimum number to retire, but lions believe higher interest rates since those days, the end of man cave aspirations, & social security deferment could make up the difference.

Lions would now completely forget about Calif*, seriously consider moving wherever it took to minimize housing costs, but only if no other jobs materialized.  A final job search would be definite.  West villages seems to be $1400 now.  There are some dumps on Mayfair Way in Titusville, at $1100.  That was a place 1 gootuber called the ghetto.

Cutting just $10k in rent would draw the retirement fund down by only 30%, under pessimistic conditions of 3% interest & 3.5% inflation, full health insurance.  Health insurance seems to be out for at least 1 year.  Cutting health insurance would further reduce it to less than a 16% drop but it might be excessive.  Lions haven't counted medicare after 65 because it's unlikely to survive.  Dental costs will certainly be over $2k/year to replace fillings.  There's no turning back the clock.

Then the lion kingdom would just be poor again.  There wouldn't be much difference.  The same tiny apartment, same car, same crap.  It's a question of constantly working to have a number.

Good old zombie process hell of HPUX lore continues on Linux.  Only got 9 days out of it.  It's related to something certain programs do to restrict themselves to a single instance.  It could be related to USB.

The last reboot was a memory corruption from vacuuming.
