The last 3 months were a real breakdown for gootube, coinciding with the updates to claude that cemented the end of many programming careers & the 1st offloading of a lot of AI workload to spacex facilities.  In that time, all the thumbnails went to alien horror movie AI graphics overnight & most of the content became AI generated garbage.  Lions got a lot more recommendations from 10 years ago.

Making money on gootube now requires promoting the AI bandwagon.   Lions couldn't hack it when it was previously just about using piss poor music.  Forget about using piss poor graphics.

 Lions pondered migrating to libflashraw https://github.com/ybouane/flashraw

 to try to speed up raw decoding.  Cinelerra finally migrated from the dcraw.c file to libraw in 2020.  It has options for interpolating & white balancing which are specific to libraw.

The way raw decoding is normally optimized is by degrading the beyer interpolation.  They can average just the neighboring pixels, bin the pixels, use int instead of float.  Even with no interpolation, a lot of time is spent in the decompression.  They claim to be using vectored assembly & the GPU.

 Like all new programs, it's in rust.  Nothing is still in C.  Lions would have to migrate to the latest ubunt & drop support for older versions to use any newer libraries.  Newer libraries are also compiling specifically for detected hardware.  The lack of any user base has led to a rise of optional features, based on the presence of a system library during compilation.

The original dcraw.c was 337kb.  LibRaw grew the source code to 16MB.  Flashraw grew that to 31MB.  LibRaw was migrated to a simple makefile.

 

Meanwhile, the X zoom escalated to ideas of having the current 1/16, 1x, 2x, 4x, 8x, but after the timeline width exceeds 1 second or something, switching to units of time.

 The lion kingdom gained 5lbs in recent years, with a sudden spike in the last few weeks.  For most of the last 15 years, the morning reading was 168 on a good day to 170 on a bad day.  A combination of 7pm naps & pullups in recent years pushed the morning reading to 170 on a good day & 172 on a bad day.  Lions believe pullups created more muscle & hydration in the upper body.  Inability to run every day further pushed it up.  At the same time, lions eat less sugar & calorie intake is lower than it used to be.

 In the last few weeks, it became 172 on a good day to 175 on a bad day.  There was an increase in pullups to 6, a flu shot.  A really hard, unsupported run now only gets it down to 170.  Full hydration probably gets it to 180.

It can't be denied that being awake after 2am makes it a lot harder to go without another mane feeding.  Going back to a single sleep session means less productivity.

Lions don't remember eating after dinner, before 2010.

The pianist was a hard movie to watch, over 3 days.  The lion kingdom isn't sure if it's more or less depressing than Schindler's List.  Many scenes in the movie were staged exactly like photos in kiwipedia.  WWII movies are generally easy to make, since there's an abundance of real, dire material. The period from 1990-2010 saw a shift from the rhetorical speeches of John Wayne, George C Scott, Charlton Heston to intimate views of desperate suffering & hunger.  Lions aren't sure whether movies lightened back up for millennials or if they stopped being made to keep millennials happy.
