Lions had basically memorized the wicked soundtrack over years of commuting with it on but dreaded a Wicked without Idina Menzel & the full length.  Tried & failed to watch the bootlegged live performance on the gootubes.  There was still hope, based on the music.  It was a long wait. Mercifully, they got the original cast in "1 short day".  After 15 years of stops & starts, almost not happening, it was kind of a miracle the original cast was still below the female age cutoff.  It would have been a different world if the voice of frozen was still the witch. Always a warm moment when an old pro is in the same scene as the current generation.  They were obviously more enthralled in working with the great Jeff Goldblum than the wizard, until he became evil. Finally, after 2h27m, the extremely overdue & delayed flying scene arrived.  At this point in the history of movies, flying isn't a big deal but maybe it was a hit with generatio...

Happy hunger games  ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------  Nominated for every nobel prize for the 5th year in a row!     ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It looks like garbage, but it got lions thinking again about the 4:3 revival.  There will be a 4:3 revival, but the best way might be a foldable monitor that folds between 16:9 & 4:3.  4:3 seems to be ideal for modern vertical video & text.  16:9 is ideal for old movies before vertical video. https://growmane.blogspot.com/2021/02/finally-entered-4k-world.html  After 4 years of fussing with it, lions eventually settled on using just the left 4:3 of their 16:9 monitor.  The sides are never visible without contacts.  The 16:10 from decades ago was easier to use.   The missing link is a foldable screen to recover the desk space...

Lions are all for mildly overweight being better than skinny, but have erotic reasons for not being overweight.   Some nifty shots.  With the right gear, steep snow pitches can be navigated.  Lions were curious if crampons can be the basis for a trail sandal. It's been trending towards manually glued lugs on an excess sandal.  The key problems are high grip TPE being just unobtanium & spare sandals having a nonzero cost.  1mm sole material is now $51 which brings each sandal to over $10.  The adhesive has risen to $5 per tube.  The cord locks did get cheaper. The lug pattern is the big question.  Lions long dreamed of a single piece. Luna promotes this lug pattern.  To minimize the weight, they could be made from 2mm rubber & stuck on. To minimize labor, the lugs should be identical. New balance minimus shoes have a workable lug.  If a webbing like this with gaps & stringers joining the lugs, was printed out of TP...

Lions pondered a situation where houses anywhere become so expensive, it becomes cheaper to keep renting in Calif for a certain time after retirement, paying the taxes on interest which would be much lower, & not taking anything from the IRA's. It would be a cheaper place than the bay area. It could be 1 realization of the winter/summer idea.  Lions could rent something cheap in the midwest for summer & own a house down south for winter.  Colder locations are cheaper so they could be a better match for renting.    There's definitely a price where home ownership becomes unviable for anyone.   ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Zero capital gains tax zone is coming for crypto currency. These are horrible.  Tyson still has the winning recipe. After many years of shortages, Wally had them for 2 weeks after xmas.  It finally came to pass that t...

Coming to the conclusion that Doug Kass may have always been more partisan than economically analyzing since 2008.  His generational low call was right, but it was now clearly based on Obama being in office.  Since 2022, he's been a permabear, but it might be more about Trump than economics. There's a case for a correction, sideways, or slow melt up, but probably not a crash in the short term.  There will be a crash someday, but it may not fall below the present & it's currently yielding more than bonds.     -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lions are beginning to believe the fed studies of net worth are drastically under estimated.  They equally weigh Calif*'s numbers against Michigan's numbers even though most of the country lives in Calif*.  The country's median net worth for 50 year olds is probably closer to $4 mil.  Almost no-one commenting on finance tube videos has less t...

So Cinelerra from the beginning had a way to share a track between multiple tracks.  The feature still exists but seems to be broken in some cases. Lions believe it's not useful anymore, in the age of nested EDL's.  It was never used in the last 25 years. Animals have run into problems with the compositing system, when trying diabolically complex toy projects.  It was never really intended to support the most diabolically complex track routing.  It's not possible to decipher these projects in a timeline format & the output looks like shit anyways.  They really need a graph format, but a graph editor would be a significant new expansion & slower to set up for what lions manely need. The timeline system with its shared plugins, shared tracks, unlimited tracks & arbitrary output channels originated in an audio technology class lions took.  The record icon for track arming was straight from otari tape decks.  The shared track was supposed...
16 years since the lion kingdom last fell in love.  16 years sober, so to speak.  The previous record was 12 years. Young lion knew best when he determined the social order wasn't going to work out. Culture has shifted in the last 30 years.  30 years ago, there was a lot of pressure to stay alone & not have babies.  Nowadays, there's a lot of pressure to make babies & have partners.  Part of the change was going from an austere era 30 years ago to a time when most animals are dying with a lot of money.  Instead of pension funds that expire upon death, animals are accumulating enormous wealth to fund retirement & leaving it to descendants.  A lot of other goals which used to be possible in a single generation now take multiple generations, like owning a house. As far as longevity, living longer used to be a highly touted plus of relationships.  Nowadays, it's not touted anymore because it's been attributed to selection bias. We do...

Noted dragging edit handles was creating edits in the plugins since the razor tool came.  It was previously optimizing contiguous plugins.  This must have been taken out.    It got a new dedicated optimizer just for dragging edit handles. Started pondering the idea of replacing all the time values in the EDL with double precision seconds.  Previous ideas were replacing them with nanoseconds.  It's not possible to replace the time units in the plugins.  Just doing it in the EDL seems viable.  That would lock audio & video edits together.   Playback would convert all the floating point times to frames & samples. Helas, it's not clear if this would solve the problem of synchronized editing without a locking function.  It's continued to be rough going, even with the expansion of the alignment functions. There's still a pulse audio migration on the TODO list & smarter default window positions for a new install.  It...

Media coverage is just about useless.  There are some low quality satellite composites without labels, showing a blur near the Martini castle.     Lions don't normally care if billionaire houses go up in flames, but the Martini castle was special. Some more outdated views from calfire showed the father of the bride house, martini house surviving.  Everything in yellow is gone so the Will Rogers area is gone. Lions only covered some of the exterior of the house, during that fateful trip.  That would be depressing to return to. 5 years ago, it was climate change. Ban cheap cars. Raise CO2 taxes to pay for fire disasters. Make the homeless pay for solar roofs. Now it's Gavin. You can't win.   Bad day for the stonk market & probably an emergency rate cut coming.  It's the wild west, no matter what.  Time for conspiracy theories about the Jimmy Carter stonk market holiday happening during the fires. Lions only see massive amounts of...

S&P 5000000 Probably got ripped off on all but the 1 I bond from 2022.  At 3%, they're currently yielding far below the 1 year treasury, even counting taxes.  1 I bond still yielded 4% by the end of 2024.  The others were down to 1 or 0%.  They pulled off 1% inflation in the last 6 months, even though housing inflation was 3%.  ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lions succumbed & started pondered getting a folding bike & stashing it in the car, since it's rarely driven & there's no other place to store it.  Wouldn't know when to ride it, but it might find a purpose in the new age of tendinopathy.  Instead of walking 5 miles, a lion could eventually ride to get around during the now necessary recovery days.  Only a folding bike would fit in the car.  Good folding bikes are expensive.  The luxurious ones are now $6k.  The cheap ones are $30...
