After a decline in paw fitness last week, lions could only run less than 3 miles at a time, with walking breaks.  The tendons might all be healed.  The problem might be the plantar calcaneonavicular ligament or spring ligament.  The only way to agitate it is to massage it or stand on it just perfectly.  Flexing the big toe doesn't do it like it used to. Sadly, the free anatomy images of years ago have all been copyrighted & taken down.  The only complete model is now just Essential Anatomy 3, a 3D model of the entire body.     There was a theory the stiffness of the lunas caused an eccentric pressure so lions went to just EVA.  The EVA's are definitely more flexible. Massaging or not massaging made no difference.  Lions are still pondering this.  A certain amount of massaging might be beneficial but not enough to tear it. Unlike the tendon injury, the ligament is painless until after it's injured. Finding over the years that tendons start hurting before they're in

What if an artificial superintelligence rigged the primary elections, causing the only human candidates to be the most incompetent dimented possible, so we would have no choice but to vote for it? It couldn't have already happened.  The artificial superintelligence couldn't be the current aggregation of all human knowledge and it can't be causing the primary elections to yield only bottom denominators.   Given the internet's 10 second attention span, would expect Bide to get elected like nothing ever happened. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- With many consecutive days over 100 & limited nighttime cooling, the apartment will be above 100 for most of those days.  The night temperature will bottom out at 85. The new strategy is to keep the standing desks as high as possible to keep the thermal mass above the lions.  Freeze an ice block at night & hold it during peak heating.  The

The last time this many D's were for sale was the 2001 recession.  Sherman Clay reserved the entire Walnut Creek concert hall as a showroom.  The stage was full of D's & a high pressure salesman.  There might have been another wave of D's in 2011 because the entire Kassman showroom was full of them, but those guys were jerks.  Between the recessions, they were pretty scarce. It seems the pianos are some of the 1st things to go when top tier home owers need money, but we haven't seen the stonk market crashes of the other 2 events & Calif* is still in a housing boom.  These are coming from the midwest where the return to office mandates really are causing a housing recession.     1 of those years when we're going to bake in triple digits for many days in a row.

What surprised lions was how no-one expected it to fall, so no-one had a camera running when it fell.  40 years ago, there would have been a locked down news camera recording it all day.  What little phone footage there is was panning around because no-one looks at the screen anymore.  In the last 10 years, animals began looking at scenes with their own eyes. The house was nowhere close to surviving.  The store is up next.  What captured the imagination was how these buildings lasted 100 years, all those disasters, only to succumb to either nature or man made diversion of the river.   After losing home, family hopes for historic café’s survival as Rapidan Dam collapse looms in Minnesota   The house & store owners were known simply as "the Barnes family".  They thought they were far enough from the river.  They or some lawyer will get a settlement from the gubment over the dam being unmanetained. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lxk5_Rbw5Dg The store eventually did succum

Surprisingly low, given the end of pensions, rise of automatic enrollment & Dave Ramsey.  Obviously, bull markets increase the percentages in stonks.  Most stonks lost half their value in 2008 but a lot of animals sold off because of the news cycles.  Most of their money is still probably in their houses.  It probably has a ways to go before the crash. When NVDA finally cracked, everyone else went up.  It was a horizontal trade.  Other headlines were increased stonk buybacks, despite supposedly tight money supply.   --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- https://www.fidelity.com/about-fidelity/Q1-2024-retirement-analysis Generation X's average 401k surpassed baby boomers at over 1/2 million.  Lions are nowhere close to average, but probably managed to get above median.  Most everyone who stayed continuously employed since 2010 & was even conservatively invested probably broke the average.  Fidelity i

The next experiment in ankle recovery was topical essential oil.  Maybe it would get absorbed through the skin & aid healing.  Well, it precipitated on the surface & there was no obvious healing.   Started avoiding all massaging of the area & after 1 day didn't notice any improvement. There was a theory the massaging was damaging it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Preparation for the next run.  Fortunately a repaving unlike the Pleasanton section which was converted to gravel.

The hunt for infinite loop Cinelerra processes continues.  Ended up with a few after editing Chasse Neige. 1 wasn't showing an infinite loop but locked up on exiting, after doing nothing but playing back, creating a few labels, & copying to another process.  That pointed to an issue in the clipboard thread.  This was happening with nested EDLs. Purely for shits & giggles, tried destroying a window instead of closing it & it created the infinite loop.  ForkWrapper child was infinite looping instead of quitting when its socket was closed.  ForkWrapper is used by FileFork & FileServer.  FileServer was the failing instance.  The child calls read_command to fetch a command from the parent but it was testing for result < 0 when the failure caused result to be > 0. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A big question for lions has been who the wealthiest family member is, in the curren

Lions are amazed by how skilled most animals are in the names of all the versions of windows.  The lion kingdom dropped out of windows by 98.  Later brands are a blur.  ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In searching for signs of the next nikkei 225, lots of news lately about most of the S&P 500 now being just a few companies.  The nikkei went up 6x in 10 years.  The S&P is up 2.5x in the last 10 years.  It has a better chance right now of continuing to  go up than down before having its own nikkei moment.  What would lions do if it did start approaching the 6x in 10 years figure?  Stick to the game plan of letting the stonk position grow on its own or rebalance? Lions believe the policy since Japan's lost decade would be to print enough money to hold the line on inflation targeting by reinflating assets.  They may not reinflate enough to prevent a long term 50% loss in the stonk market, as pervasive as the Dav

Gootube made more money on this dog turd than Apple.  As long as apple can keep unveiling a new next big thing every 6 months, it doesn't matter if none of them amount to anything.   Like programming languages, quantity is overpowering quality.  Iteration is mother of necessity.  ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The lion kingdom hasn't had a lasting paw recovery in over a year.  It was really only 5 months from Oct - Feb when it was firing on all 35 raptors.  Given little chance of recovery by marathon day, the plan is a 12 minute pace with heel striking.  Heel striking seems to avoid the offending tendon. 5h15m was the lion kingdom's marathon time long before the paw failed.  There won't be any more speed work & all effort will be focused on increasing the 12 minute pace distance. The end for most runners seems be an age where body parts stop regenerating.   --------------------

When 1 thing goes down, another thing must go up, with inflation targeting. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In this episode of where are they now, this dimly lit room housing the word's most powerful confuser in 1960 caught the lion kingdom's attention. The building where the 1st 2 computers were built was several miles east of the IBM campus in what is now a run down high school.  It must have been in the largest building.  Imagine sitting in a classroom where that once existed.  Also noted another photo showing a gigantic 1950's air vent.  Nothing beats the giant air vents which adorned computer rooms & car dealers in the 1950's.
